the Center mounted speedo is a no-no for me. Personal preference though I would rather prefer the console on the driver's side !! Can the guru's highlight if this type of centram mounted construction have any special benefits ? The Toyota has them too starting from the ECho !!! The car on the whole looks cool on the exterior !!

Benefits only company. They do not have to redesign the dash for export and thus save $$$.

Like someone pointed, it helps the manufacturer with a single mould for both left/right hand drive marker. Since it is a symmetrical design, mould making also should be less expensive affair.
From the design perspective, it is not very ergonomic and gives a feel that it is not very driver centric.
The argument that it provides better issibility is also not true as instrument cluster is anyway below the bonnet line.
Nissan Xtrail had centrally mounted instrument cluster but in the recent redesign, it has been moved back to the conventional way.

Well Palios range strats from 3.47lakhs to 4.85 lakhs for the top end MJD.

While swifts range starts from 3.99lakhs to 5.32 lakhs all prices ex showroom delhi.

The non abs version of swift cost about 5.13lakhs hence vista is till cheaper by around 25K which is surely a big amount. Tough time ahead for swift as after sales & reliability are the only department where they beat Tata & if vista changes that then if can steal a lot of customers from maruti.

Weird pricing, does Tata want more Palios to sell, Palio is more or less available with Tata after sales, so how does it matter to a customer if he buys an Indica or a Palio. If I remember correctly, the Palio is still a bigger car space wise then the Vista.

You are horribly wrong. The new Indica is bigger both inside out and will have space more in the league of Getz, more than it infact besides there's a long list of extra's and you get the picture. Swift Diesel looks hugely overpriced now.

I don't think that the Vista has to worry about the Palio.

Dimension wise the Vista easily will have the largest interiors in its price range, Looks wise as well the Vista looks a generation ahead inside and out.
Also unlike the Palio its a new launch and therefore has the novelty factor.

The Palio is a very good car, perhaps one of the better suited ones for Indian conditions. But Fiats mismanagement has never allowed it to be the success it deserved and I don't see it happening into the future as well. Lets hope Fiat gets it right with its upcoming launches.

As far as the Vista is concerned it has everything going for it. All thats left to prove is the progress Tata clims it made in the Quality/reliability stakes. Fingers crossed.

Ranc, The Indica was more spacious than the Palio. The Palio however, offered more boot space. The Indica Vista is 3.8 m long and should offer more room than the Indica V2. More over with a torsion beam rear suspension, the boot space should also be more usable.

TITLESTILE MULTIJET VISTA
Length (mm) 3827 3795
Width (mm) 1620 1695
Height (mm) 1440 1550
Wheelbase (mm) 2373 2470
Kerb Weight (Kg) 1065 1140
Ground Clearance (Mm) 170 165

Palio is longer, more ground clearance, lighter, better build quality. Vista seems to be wider and taller.

ranc : Width (mm) - 1695.
The Vista is not really much wider. The V2 was 1665 mm, without the mirrors. The Vista is 1695 mm - 3cm wider.
