Things we dropped from yesteryear - in our car

Recently I was travelling in a old Premier Padmini and the car broke down. The driver got down, opened the hood and switched on a light in the engine compartment.

Thats when this thought hit me as to how practical that small bulb is (found in all old Ambys and Padminis), but not found in any of the cars today.

The question is - Why doesnt any of todays new age car have that bulb inside the engine compartments when they have gone ahead and placed puddle lamps, follow home lights etc?

Hand gears (Steering mounted) which allowed for an additional seat in the front have disappeared. That is one good feature which went missing somewhere down the line.

What was the reason to remove the steering mounted gears. I think it would be easier to change gears. Not sure as i never drove such car

I loved the metal bumpers. Any body worker use to get it back in shape. Now we have to pay 2500 - 50000 depending on the car model.

I really miss the rotatory type seat adjustment knob which was there in my carb 800. Not found in most modern cars now. :(

I loved the sofa like rear seat, on which you could sleep peacefully.
