This is taking it too far. This is nothing but a money making venture for our cops.
Music is generally used to relieve stress when you're stuck in traffic. Road rage is gonna be on the rise.
Let's see them ban their wireless radios.

See the mid-day poll on the subject.
Mid day: Admin Poll

The appropriate option is getting most votes. I also second that option.

This is stupid. So stupid.

Why don't they see the other side? I bet there are going to be more incidents of roadrage if they actually implement this.

Read the article carefully.

It says "Drivers cannot hear horns / honking if he listens to music" and the joke is - last month the traffic police were very active in promoting the NO HONKING mantra !

No one what they are saying / speaking. I feel we should slap a case on the traffic police for not doing their duty all these years. If the law existed all these years - they were deaf ?

If they want to ban music, why not ban those mandals that play loud music throughout the day near to schools, colleges, hospitals ?

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, Suburban) S M Sabde said, "Talking on the mobile phone while driving distracts the driver. As does listening to music."
The next rule from the cops is going to be no talking to your co-passengers in the car as it distracts the driver and results in accidents. To ensure that, the rule will say that all people in the car should have their mouth's taped so the cops will know at a glance that the rule is being followed.

By the way, how are they going to check if music is playing in the car?

Probably, more nakabandis. Which in turn means more traffic jams, more wastage of time and fuel.
Think of it, these fools have still not managed to trace anyone in connection with the 7/11 railway bomb blasts.

My gut feeling is that they are out to nab those driving with blaring music which probably distract even other drivers. Personally I have got irritated with many autorikshaw drivers who too indulge in this nuisance.if the drive is confined to this segment, I wish all success to the Police.

This really sucks, how stupid. What do you when you are stuck in traffic if not for music i would keep looking for a gap so that i can squeeze into it. It would be complete chaos.
I hope the hyderabad police does not implement this.
I think mumbai cops are short on their fine reveniew.

Damn ! This is stupidity and ofcourse a money munching mechanism for the cops. So its Mumbai now and slowly this will creep into other cities too i guess. Instead of educating and policing people who break signal rules and lane disciplines this is unwarranted for and too ridiculous.

What does this mean? You can't play music? Or you can't play music loud?
