I doubt this rule will survive the scrutiny of the law. For example Delhi Tints debacle.
Police are enforcers, not interpreters of the law or lawmakers. They should know their place.
In a democracy its the job of the Parliament to make laws, not some policeman.
They should just do their job, what they are paid for

As per reports this law already exists in IMV acts. Not sure about validity of this though.

I sometimes listen to recordings( not like the stig, stuff like audio books, self recorded stuff like answers/definitions before exams) . Is that not allowed as well? I mean it's obvious that its not music but good luck explaining it to the pandu in case this thing is implimented. Also, does it mean we wont need the In-Car entertainment forum anymore? :( :(

There is nothing absurd with the news or the law.The law says music at a level which causes noise pollution.Basically if you listining to "rise up" or any of your bollywood number with all your woofers and speakers on and windows rolled down and volume jacked up till max you attract a penalty.Listining to music at sane volumes does not cal for an offence. The rule exists thats a different thing its not enforced or will not be enforced. So lets not get very emotional and descriptive about the law or the rules.

Its really a ridiculous thing to happen.I foresee:
1. ICE Threads will go down on Team BHP as there wont be any ICE left.
2. No more threads on "Songs in your cars" discussions
I hope other states dont catch this disastrous act.

Quoted from the article
Quote:
Why did the cops suddenly decide to crack down on music? "The law always existed. All we are doing is follow it seriously, to prevent losing innocent lives. I have already instructed traffic policemen in my jurisdiction (Mahim to Dahisar) to be extra cautious about such violators. We will come down heavily on them in the coming days," Sabde reiterated.
Looks like it's already enforced.

There isn't a chance of such an absurd rule ever being followed. Or implemented. Those who blare loud music out of our cars, sure....may be fined (just as before). But if you are listening to music at an acceptable volume, no one is going to clamp down on you.

Come on, guys. Laugh it off and move on.
