IMO the GC of current Civic is quite sufficient (infact its higher[170mm] than most cars; except altis which gets 6mm more!). FWIU, GC as such is not at all an issue with Civic; its only the suspension being soft; this has been grossly mistaken. The current rear suspension is so soft that the 170mm shrinks down quite easily; also the wheelbase is full 100mm longer than corolla and most other cars in the segment. A bump can easily get in-between front and rear wheels and scrape the belly; with shorter wheelbase, either the front or the rear would be on the bump and the body stays a bit higher from the ground.

I agree with Immortalz; IMO, they just needed to stiffen the suspension (springs/dampers); with this the handling would still improve but the ride at low-speed would suffer.

Oh man, this is disappointing. Is Honda trying to keep the price same, by any chance? If yes, a single CD player with USB port is acceptable; but steering mounted audio controls is a cheap trick, I think. Is cruise-control an expensive kit ? I guess not, as I believe its mainly a software feature.

Honda will give cruise control but not steering mounted controls? That's weird!

@jesal: Sidindica's "update and correction" is accurate as per my knowledge as well.
I think you should expect a price increase of about 50,000. In addition, the existing discounts (of insurance free) will probably be discontinued with the new model, making the immediate price differential in real terms close to Rs. 1 lakh.

Personally, I would have been happier with steering controls for music system than cruise control as a feature.

This is exactly the reason why picking up the outgoing model could make sense for people currently in the market for a civic.

@sid/@axe
Isn't it(steering-mounted audio controls) available on the top end also ? (V A/T); not that this can be a deal breaker; just curious to know. Any changes in the service schedule ?

AFAIK, no steering controls for the music system on any variant (this is all secondary information of course).

I dont recollect if this was written before but the alloys are slightly different (for the better!).

Not sure why they are not including steering controls as it is present in all of their 2009 models abroad. Also I dont think it makes much sense to have cruise control on manual transmission models, especially in our roads where we need to brake or change the gear frequently.

Spoke to one of the dealers in B'lore today. He said he has just 1 V A/T in stock (color to be confirmed). He is offering only 30K discount. How much are other dealers offering currently (in B'lore and other cities); just to get an idea for negotiating further if I fully decide.

Civic Coralla et al

People,

Have followed this thread very very closely as I am dabbling between options on buying a new car - Civic AT, Altis AT or the City AT (if the ride quality is similar to the Civic, why not save a little money). The news of a new Civic on the anvil has definitely charged me on. We are into September now. Any news on the launch date? Could it be a Diwali launch as the newspapers are suggesting (new car variants expected then)?

@buz, CIVIC is going to be launched on Sept 8th (as per T-BHP and Deccan Herald); not sure about City. Check out http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...new-sense.html.
