Bangalore update (all ex-showroom prices in lakh rupees)-

VLX AT is 10.96 while MT is 10.10.
VLS AT is 10.38 while MT is 9.47.

90k extra for the AT is not too bad considering that they have probably not (TBC) dropped any features of the MT versions.

Delivery in 8-10 days with TD vehicles within 2-3 days.

I think MM has priced it really cool. I think getting a SUV around 10Lac and that too AT is really good.
What's next? Safari? Any plans from TATA on this line?

No test drives yet from TBHP-ians. Only TDs I have found so far are at at BS Motoring (Please Wait...) and Autocar India's forum section at www.autocarindia.com

Eagerly awaiting the first review and hoping of a unbiased comparision from a current mHawk MT driver too!

Launch pre-poned??

Surprise, Surprise!!!!!!!!!!

After announcing on CNBC that AT will be available only in December, 08, they have advanced the timelines to September!!!!!! Wonder what triggered this hasty soft launch? There must be something cooking from the competition to hasten the launch by 3 months.

Anyone has any news about competition also launching AT?

AT this price of around 10 L, this is one tempting package.

I notice that the AT doesn't have any physical button, sleeve ring or switch 'locking' it from accidentally moving from D to N, R or P while moving. Instead, it has 2 safety systems:

1. Forces the driver to press the brake before moving out from P, and
2. Deactivates R unless the AT decides that engine rpm and vehicle speed is within parameters.

Does 2. mean that even if someone accidentally knocks the AT-shift from P to N and then R, the AT will not react?

I have driven 3 AT cars in the UK namely a Mercedes A Class, Honda Accord 2.0 and a VW Caravelle and always recollect a physical switch of some kind to move from P to N/D/R. Even then, the AT would not react to the change I suppose. Never tried it though :-)!

Can someone comment?

I've frequently driven a C180 auto & recently TD'ed a Altis auto both of which do not have any physical buttons of any kind to avoid accidental gearshifts. And yes, both require the brake pedal to be depressed when you need to change gears.

Hi itwasntme,

The usual sequence is P R N D ..

The absence of a safety lock was mentioned in the magazine review. I don't remember reading about the non reaction depending on RPM etc.

Friends,

I am eagerly waiting for some Test Drive reports. I have a Santro AT. Want to pass that on to the wife and get myself the Scorpio AT.

I am probably going to ask for a TD at Coimbatore in the next couple of weeks.

Are the pricing confirmed?

Check the Mahindra site yesterday and it did not give a pricing; said 'pricing being updated' or something to that effect!

@10L, this is surely a very sweet deal!
