Coolllll

I'm also waiting for this car. There has been links posted about I-blue in this thread. I-blue is euro IV means it needs diesel with 50ppm sulphur. I don't think India will have that before 2010 in 6 big cities. No plans yet for small towns and villages. It could be delayed due to the oil companies running in loss.
If there's a version of 1.4 CRDI without the i-blue that's what could be launched in India. Else they'll have to stick to 1.5 crdi of verna.

High sulphur in diesel in India is one reason why mercedes is holding their bluetec engine launch in India.

An i20 priced at 7 lacs will suffer the same fate as the Fabia. 7 Lacs is C segment pricing and not too many people outside some of the metros would like to spend that kind of money on a hatch. IMHO a premium of approx 50 K over the Swift would still be acceptable. The swigt ZXI is pretty loaded and even then it is the VXi and not the ZXi that sells.

Well the model in the pic has climate control (something Fabia lacks), very good quality seats (again looking better than Fabia) and also audio controls on steering (something again not there in Fabia). If it can be priced at less than 7 lac than it will surely turn lot of eyes. I think there is definitely a huge market now in India for hatchbacks (Maruti sells 9000+ Swifts a month!!!) and more and more people in future will prefer comfy hatches due to practicality reasons (parking, ease of driving in case driving self etc). If you can get luxury of a 10 lakh rupee car for 7 lakhs you might be tempted to go for it (especially if you have a small family and/or no boot fetish) If Honda were to launch a hatch version of Civic for 8 lakhs I think it will sell like hot cakes!!! 7 lakhs for this car will make very much sense provided Hyundai can give all that is shown in the pic. if they choose to still treat us as third world and downtrim anything/everything then its another matter altogether.

hi,

For or around 7 lacs, is i20 going to be running the 1.3L Crdi or the 1.5L as the Verna? The looks are far more superior to the fabia and Swift is not any where close on looks. The interiors looks quiet spacious. Is Getz going to be still available. For ~7 lacsl, its the best buy HATCH.

OK. Any news about the new Verna as the thread title Says? I am sure, its good time to change the design like i10 or 120 - both looks excellent to me, which Verna doesn't have now.

This link has a detailed explanation of the i20 features from the Paris launch. I hope all of them make it to versions sold in India... I am already salivating (no - too polite - make that 'drooling') at the thought.

Yes, that's true. Pictures of i20 do seem to be hard to find.
And a lot of the specs have been talked about before, but now they are real and not just speculation. So that increases the chance that they may actually end up in a car we can drive.
