Thanks for the update Bluevolt, though it wouldnt have mattered much to most personal car users, still any saving is good in current times. Good decision on the rollback.

I guess that 92 paise cut on petrol is also coming in next week.
Cng costs half of petrol and gives more FE, got my Linea Cng'd and its giving a healthy 18-20 km/l in city, availability is good, you do lose some fun factor but flick that switch to petrol and off you go, 7 rs/km to 2rs/km is a significant saving.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

I am sorry if this has been discussed before but thought of asking anyway-
Was travelling between Bangalore and Mysore, saw these Reliance Fuel Pumps selling Petrol at 65.xx and 66.xx somewhere in between.

How so?

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Some people have realised where the bulk of the cost is coming from

Pranab wants states to cut petrol taxes by 25% - Indian Express

lets hope something constructive comes out of this other than the customary denial and misquoted statements.

@superutp - Reliance stopped selling petrol quite some time back. Looks like they didn't bother to remove the pricing thing after they shut shop.

This was a long time back whether why they haven't removed anything. Anyway, thats going OT.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Now the noise for a Diesel, LPG & Kerosene hike is getting shriller. Rangarajan, FICCI and the rest are all asking for it. Also, the bite may be smaller as crude is falling. I hope they bite the bullet, and deregulate all of them in one shot.

I have seen a couple of reliance pumps open on the way from Bangalore to Mumbai around Chitradurga/ Hubli and whereabouts. This was as recent as January 2012. Fuel was priced at the then PUC rates which was about Rs.72 I think.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Brent oil prices are down to $96 today! And the Rupee is also up to ~55. Why the govt not reducing the Petrol prices?

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

^Oh. I just tanked up one of my cars (Rs. 74.41) - after waiting for a few days, hoping that prices would fall again. Took advantage of the Rs. 2 cut.

I am still holding on for the other car - it is half empty, and not driven much.

How much is the petrol price expected to fall again in the month of June?

The last I heard was just under Re.1 at the refinery. This is possible at the next 'official' review, 15th June. Both that is far away!

Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu - Rs. 77.66 (BP)

So, Petrol costs more in Valparai as compared to Dharmapuri, not sure why !

The price might be higher due to the higher transportation cost to the hills. But not really sure though.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

With the international crude prices falling below the 97$, why isnt the fuel prices in India seeing any correction? There were reports in the dailies about the OMC's proposing to drop the petrol prices and suddenly everything has gone so quite. I guess even the daily commuter must have got used to the high fuel prices.
