I never thought I'll see the day when fuel prices in Bangalore will be overtaken by another state. Not sure of Hyderabad, but for now, one less thing to crib about Bangalore now..
After some ranting our raving our venerable Didi might reluctantly agree to collect lesser taxes from us restoring status quo. Lets see how this drama unfolds. I was expecting the center to start doing this coz the states have been enjoying a free lunch in the form of taxes on fuels by doing absolutely nothing.

Looks like by the start of next month, we may be in for a further hike in petrol price. It's high time Govt/RBI does something to perk up the rupee

Forget it. They have time till the end of the week to announce something. Unless there is some action (not just talk) it will not be possible for the RBI to cut rates on the 31st and then the downwards spiral begins / accelerates. Also, once the monsoon session starts forget any action.

Due to so called "Re-Calibration of Taxes", Kolkata petrol prices have zoomed ahead of other metros (I think, highest in the country ).

Although official hike was something around 70 paises, the actual prices to the consumer has increased much more.

Tried to understand the details of Re-calibration factor, but could not completely understand as whether central govt. tax part has increased or the sate govt. part ?

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Urgent Question,

Is there a Government Website that shows retail prices of Diesel and Petrol around the country.
Must be retail prices at the pumps.

Must be Official government, I have found a few private sites, but I cannot use them.

Good News for Thane, Octroi reduction on Fuel prices

Good News for Thaneites.

There's news in Loksatta (Marathi newspaper) about Thane Municipal corporation reducing the Octroi charges on the fuel prices from the present 4.5% to 0.5 % which means the prices of Petrol, Diesel & CNG would drop substanially. Petrol sells presently 78.10 in Thane and a reduction of 3+ would bring the price to 75/- approx which is lesser than that in Mumbai. . Present diesel prices are 45.47 & CNG is 34.25 in Thane.

So Thaneites can now breathe easy and not use the excuse of filling petrol in Mumbai.

Link for the Marathi newspaper as below, googled for English version, could not get.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

IOC reports biggest ever quarterly loss by an Indian company:

IOC reports Rs22,451 crore loss, biggest ever by any listed company - Money - DNA

Looks like they really are in trouble due to the inability to raise diesel and kerosene prices.

All elections have now ended, maybe now we'll start seeing some price corrections.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Yeah, I also came to know that Diesel prices are expected to go up by Rs 4-5 and there'll be a petrol price hike too.
One thing is for sure. UPA is not coming to power again.
Enough of them.

I dont really blame the govt here. The subsidy on diesel is just way too high now. The main problem they need to address is improving the value of the rupee due to which the subsidy provided by govt is around 20Rs per litre. This is just a big bubble waiting to burst if they continue to subsidize in the name of vote bank politics.

One way would be to reduce the state govt taxes on fuel but then again, they want that to fill their pockets

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

@shadows123; Where is ths subsidy on Diesel. You have also got taken in by the propaganda. The total taxation customs, excise, etc. still exceeds the 'so called subsidy'. o they are taking more than what they are giving back.

I hope but have grave doubts about the pricing being made more realistic. You are paying in any case be it through the price, inflation, taxation or rupee depreciation.
