The last price-change was on 1-May after which the price at Bombay for normal unleaded became 69.73, which should be the current price too because there has not been a hike after that. Current prices in other 3 metros are :

Delhi Kolkata Chennai
63.09 70.35 65.9

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

There has been a surreptitious hike in petrol prices at least in Mumbai. Probably due to some local taxes. I had filled up the tank of my Wagon-R on Saturday and did not bother to take the receipt, but I clearly remember the price was 71+.
Due to the above posts, I checked this site - http://www.mypetrolprice.com/3/Petrol-price-in-Mumbai and it has confirmed the hike - effective May 23.

Yes. Even I noticed the Petrol price of Rs. 71.17 per liter yesterday at Petrol Pump.

I feel the recent & surprising hike is due to implementation of LBT? Earlier Fuel prices in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) jurisdiction were 3.5% higher then Mumbai due to LBT. If this is really the case then recent protests against LBT were really justified.

Thanks,

Seems to be specific only to state of Maharastra or Mumbai only ? I am surprised to see that Petrol is cheaper in karnataka now at 69.35. I always thought we paid most for the fuel as well as road tax down here in south.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Pfft. The petrol prices will continue to go up and up until there is some hue and cry raised by everyone. Then they will increase the diesel price to compensate, which will be met by protests from the transport sector and will be rolled back. This is getting far too predictable and definitely something that isn't good at all. I think the import duty based on current oil price value/barrel should give us reasonable prices but no, even though i own a diesel car, i am on for parity between petrol and diesel prices. Rs 65.9/l on petrol, Rs 52.92/l on diesel afaik.

I heard on a news channel today the price of petrol is set to be raised by 1rupee per litre soon, is anyone aware of this? I guess this is because of the rupee decline against the dollar although international crude prices havent really firmed up to make much significance.

It was on ABP news yesterday. I don't know if they mentioned the amount, but surely the IOC chairperson said that the fuel prices may increase. That's riding on the back of the depreciating Rupee against the Dollar. However, that is the technical/ financial part. Lets see if the Political/ Practical counterparts think so!

Hello Arpanjha,

Petrol are sure to increase in coming days because Rupee is trading at approx 56.60 against 1 USD today. I feel in coming days we should expect further hike in petrol prices.

Hello All,

Will the falling Rupee, I feel Government will have no option but to go ahead with monthly 50 paise hike in Diesel prices. Also the Government has fixed the maximum fuel subsidy that it will give this fiscal year. Which means oil marketing companies will have to hike Diesel prices beyond the fixed 0.50 paise per month hikes.

Thanks,

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

End of speculations...the bad news is that petrol will be dearer by 0.75p per litre from midnight. News just flashed in the evening news.

Diesel up by 0.50p. All that exclusive of VAT.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Isn't diesel supposed to be increased at a months gap? When was the last hike announced? I feel its been even a month. So now even driving a diesel car is getting costlier. Instead of decreasing petrol prices, just increase diesel prices too. Great people centric government!!

Price of Petrol in Mumbai was indeed increased even before this new hike of 75p per litre (excluding taxes). I paid Rs. 71.19 per litre on 31-May-13 even as I remember paying 69 something few days back. Even I am assuming that it's because of LBT. Poor us.
