Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

With Prices being announced every morning, and apps available for all to use, I think we can stop posting the prices daily.

Many. Do a search on Google Play Store. I have one titled " Daily Petrol Diesel Price" (by Aman4India) which gives prices for IOCL, BP, Shell & HP.

This one does not need any extra permissions, hence trying it out.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Not sure if this has been posted before.

Found this Nice App - Daily Petrol/Diesel Price by Y P Tech.

It doesn't require any permissions.
  • Both Fuel Prices are displayed Side by Side
  • State wise Prices can be accessed.
  • Price listed is average price in that City & not the actual Price (RSP) of a Outlet.
  • Previous Day(s) Price isn't listed

Another 15 paise reduction in petrol price in Bangalore - 68.94 (20th June, IOC). This is turning out to be more fun than I thought it would be, though I lost a bit by topping up on 18th when the price was 38 paise higher!

Btw, IOC's official website says the daily prices are applicable from 6 am each day - not midnight. Also, they announce the next day's price at 8 pm on their site; have been following it for the last few days. This gives you a small window to fill up in case there is a jump in next day's price. If you live close to an IOC station this could be more exciting than the CT 2017 finals :-)

On another note - Wonder if there will be lesser instances of topping the tanks (unless traveling out of town) due to the price movements...?

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

I personally don't think this daily price fluctuation will affect consumption pattern in any way. Will someone really wait for the next day anticipating a drop and then fill, when they are not aware of how the prices will move the day after?
I will follow my regime of filling at the half tank mark, usually around the 3rd week post the last fill.
But looking at the way the LPG prices have fallen in the past month, it does look like the fuel prices will be gradually headed southwards for some time.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

I think this system is not being followed correctly. Yesterday I tanked up my car at 69.04/Liter and today there was a 10 paisa decrease. But when I went to fill up my Dio at Nagpals near Brigade road junction, the price was still 69.04 itself and they hadnt changed it. Not that I am complaining about the 40 paisa extra I paid, but the revision was not yet made at 7:30 AM in this bunk. In this case, does the dealer now get 10 paisa profit on every liter? How do we ensure that the price is correct and revised?

I think this system should be scrapped and maybe revised every weekend, or petrol bunks should mandatorily have LED boards displaying the prices outside so that it is openly visible.

Yes, there has been reduction of fuel prices almost daily since June 15. There might be further reduction as the crude has been cooling.

Yes. See the Bangalore Petrol price. The daily revision started from June 16. Right?

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Most of the dealers are not happy.

They are selling Petrol & Diesel at a loss. And what's more, the margins are very tiny to play with. Also, Labour Price has been hiked making it even difficult. They will be waiting for Crude to shoot up.

Consumers would be unaffected.

Isnt the dealer commission on volume and not price? My understanding is that its fixed around 1.xx Rs/litre of fuel sold. Not sure if its different for petrol and diesel.

So I am not able to understand how the dealers will be at a loss with daily change in rates?

They were cheating. You should have asked for an electronically printed receipt and it would have printed the right price.
