Just checked Delhi prices and it's still at 62.33 for diesel and petrol is at 69.63. So, maybe not raised in Delhi yet or bs6 fuel still isn't available here.

How's the petrol and diesel fuel prices in Blore doing nowadays?

I read some headline saying crude has fallen to $15 a barrel, claimed lowest in over 2 decades!

Crude oil prices have very little to do with price of fuel at the pump in India.

The Government may increase tax on fuel (profiting from low oil prices) and still sell Fuel at the same price - This way pricing/taxation will become transparent. Hiding behind oil profits/gains brings a lot of doubt and should be avoided.

Petrol is actually in minus in Canada right now as they want to sell but no one wants to buy so crude has dropped in minus. And we are still paying 70 😆😆 not that we can drive anywhere or buy and store it.

Oil prices turn negative in US due to lack of storage facilities. So you now will get paid to buy oil :(

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

I recently had a chat with somebody who has worked in the oil industry in the usa for the last 40 years. So the takeaway is that everything is shut, oil usage has dropped everywhere therefore everyone has oil stock lying around, the refiners are paying people to pick up oil because all barges are stuck, all depots are full and there is no space for oil to be stored which is being refined and produced. Now is the best time for any country to purchase it but due to global lockdown who is buying, who is able to pick up the stock is anybody's guess. The US crude needs a price of $32 just to be able to recover their drilling and refining costs but currently that is nowhere the case.

Just shared the above for everyone as an insight.

Our Indian Gumment makes money from two products: Oil and Alcohol. Don't expect to pay any less for petrol/diesel any time soon. As such if the Lock Down continues no one's going to pay taxes, neither is any of us going to tank up, anytime soon, so don't fret, grin and bear it.

Coronavirus Lockdown: Nagaland Government Imposes COVID-19 Cess On Fuel Prices.

Quote:
Nagaland government has announced that it will charge a cess of Rs. 5 per litre on diesel and Rs. 6 per litre on petrol from motorists today onwards.
Would it trickle down to other states too?

NL Government has very meager road tax on vehicles registered within NL [http://mvd.nagaland.gov.in/files/fees.html] so, kind of justified for that particular state.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Will this COVID-19 cess increase fuel prices or are they considering reducing fuel prices and add this cess to bring the prices back to the current level?

I guess its now a habitual tendency to mint money in the form of taxes at every possible opportunity. I say this because the Governments can very easily adjust fuel prices in a manner that is both beneficial to the users as well as their treasuries.

Meanwhile, a cut in fuel prices is being proposed in our neighboring country Pakistan which is taunted to be under much more financial stress compared to ours.

Aviation fuel now costs less than one-third of petrol price
Quote:
Oil marketing companies have suffered huge inventory losses due to the massive slump in crude oil rates
Petrol and diesel prices have not been changed for the last 50 days
Quote:
Oil marketing companies have, however, cut the price of jet fuel (ATF) by a steep 23.2% or ₹6,812.62 per kilolitre to ₹22,544.75 per kl in Delhi.
ATF, which is used as a fuel in aeroplanes, now costs less than one-third of the price of petrol used in cars and two-wheelers. This the steepest cut ever and sixth reduction in ATF prices since February. Since February, jet fuel prices have been cut by almost two-thirds. ATF price in Delhi before the reduction cycle began in February was ₹64,323.76 per kl and now costs ₹22,544.75 per kl.
