So, I agree, my comparison was not perfect. But I think, 1248 cc diesel engine will be lighter than 1.6 Suzuki petrol engine. Don't you think so?

It is a brand new engine being developed. It would not be a variant of MJD. Also it is slated to be launched by Mid 2011 and not before that. We can safely assume a delay of 6 months (Any new car in India have been having delays of at least 3-6 months) and see this getting launched only by 2012 and not before that.

Don't think so. Linea Diesel is heavier than its petrol sibling by 40 kilos or so.
But SX4 should perform well with the Linea Diesel engine as it is a lighter car than Linea

Yup maruti said it would come only by march,which I think would be too late in the day.
By that time they will be facing strong competition from the likes of the New Verna,Fiesta Sedan both which i am sure will get diesel engines from the start.

hmmm... probably not! IIRC, the 1.6 is an all aluminium unit whereas a Diesel engine is usually a mild steel unit because of the pressures that the combustion cycle creates.

I would love to see 1.6 liter diesel engine in the SX4.
esspecialy the work all done by Japanese engineer(may be Indian include).
i think it's should be first diesel that develope internally by Suzuki.

As per the news report it would neither be MJD nor a VW diesel. It is a ground up developed diesel by Suzuki which would be plonked into SX4.

Hi all i had a chat with SA in cars india and he told me that Sx4 is coming with MJD and is set to be launched in JAN2011.

The SA and technicians have seen the car and undergone introductory training.

BUT an article in carwale states that it will come with DDis 1.6 engine..now which is true? Does fiat have 1.6 or is it from VW

Well that confuses me, MJD DDIs Quadrajet are all the same engine with just different name.

When you say MJD is coming now the DDis, dont think that is possible.

Anyway I would like th VW diesel engine to be introduced anyway.

It seems like Q1 2011 is going to be very interesting! Just when I convince myself about buying another car, I see an update on the SX4 front. I hope it means that I am destined to buy the car!
if they launch it with some red colour, I could use that as a selling point to increase the car budget at the home ministry level
