If Maruti can introduce a 1.9 MJD in the SX4, why would Fiat put the 1.3 in it's Linea ?

If launched, the SX4 diesel will redefine the term "Waiting time"

e_l,
Fiat wants some numbers on the chart. 1.3 should give better mileage than 1.9 and thats what sells in India

Exactly. They wont. Car manufacturers in India arent known to give anything extra when a lower-specced item can sell. Although, I wish I am wrong here.

If maruti pull this off, Fiat is going to end up with the 2nd egg on its face, first the 1.3DDiS, and now the 1.9
All car buying plans on hold after this news
I'm looking forward to this bigger capacity diesel.

If MS offer the 1.9L MJD in teh Sx4, then the cost will shoot up to those in the league of Optra/Corlla/Civic. Maruti & expensive sedan don't go hand in hand.
Sx4 with same MJD engine as in the Linea - yeah a possibility.

This 1.9 DDiS thing is nothing but speculation!

AFAIK Fiat has given the licence only for 1.3 Multijet to Maruti Suzuki.

Has Suzuki got license to produce 1.9 MJD in India,

by the way this SX4 Diesel talks are being going on and on for many months.
Suzuki Fanboys like to create news of 1.9 MJD SX4 without providing any authentic source to back.

Whatever! 1.3 or 1.9! I'm sure Suzuki will do better with a fiat engine than Fiat did with its own engine in the sluggish Linea.

if you think Suzuki always does better then fiat why they have to borrow the technology from Fiat.

btw have you TD the Linea MJD before calling it sluggish?

Yes I have, from RF motors edapally. The review is posted on the "linea has arrived thread" I was accompanied by another tbhpian, and we drove to the place in a fiat engined Suzuki(mine). Why dont we discuss this there?
I had posted there a few days back, wonder why I was not attacked then?
Here is the link http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post1161174

It doesnt matter which brand of car I'm driving- the idea is that it should respond when the accelerator is depressed, by moving forward purposefully, not, by making noise.

Plus I don't think it will happen. now that the Linea is doing well, FIAT would not consider giving Suzuki a license to produce the 1.9 D engine, unless the want Suzuki to undertake the expensive and time consuming process of localizing the engine.

well i guess its something called reverse engineering that the Japanese and Indians are so good at. The Fiat 1.3 MJD seems more torquey in a Swift than in a Palio. So first strike to the Swift (and i am a Palio fan at that).

Again I have TDed the Linea in Bangalore with my friend - i found it to be a good city cruiser actually but even with 90 bhp it seemed to be less powerful than the Dzire D with 75 bhp to boot. Now the difference in power to weight ratio ain't much in comparision to the Dzire and the Linea but the former seemed more peppy and fun to drive.

So the fact remains - if suzuki does come up with a diesl SX4 with a 1.3 MJD -
1. for sure expect it with 90+ bhp and proper tuning (they are good at it)
2. value for money - at 7.8-8 lakh ex showroom its a steal
3. i will put my car purchase plans on hold and save 2 lakhs in the next 5 months.
