SX4 Diesel - Is it on the cards? Update: Now launched

fiat just wont do it. buy linea if you like diesel they would say

A visit to this site, and some playing around, allows a comparison between the 1.9 DDiS and the 1.6 DDiS SX4 hatch ... Welcome to Suzuki GB PLC. The official Suzuki UK website for all Suzuki Cars and Automobiles including 4x4, New Grand Vitara, Swift, Swift Sport, SX4, Jimny, Ignis, Liana and Wagon R+ ... both of which seem to be available currently.

Contrary to popular belief, the 1.6 DDiS is Peugeot sourced, and not from Fiat. See Suzuki UK's official press release, which says as much : Suzuki News Blog Archive ADDED DIESEL CHOICE FOR SUZUKI?S SPORT X-OVER

Lastly, the SX4 diesel SEDAN ... I don't think it exists anywhere in the world.

Which should explain why we don't have one in India as yet.

that will give depth to the product line of co in india . But considering the acceptability of the X over s in the indian market e.g. Ford fusion (that to at 8-10 lac )dont think will have the same Impact which D'zire has made

If they launch the wagon with the diesel, that would rock - rebirth of Palio adventure!

I think these are the possible Diesel options for SX4

1.6 DDIS (Suzuki-Peugeot)
90 PS @ 4000 rpm
215Nm @ 1750 rpm
0-100kmph @ 12.2 secs
Top Speed: 176 kmph

1.9 8V MultiJet Fixed-geometry turbo (FIAT)
120 PS @ 4000 rpm
280Nm @ 2000 rpm
0-100kmph @ 10.5 Sec
Top Speed: 200 kmph

1.3 16V MultiJet Fixed-geometry turbo (FIAT)
90 PS @ 4000 rpm
200 Nm @1750 rpm
0-100 kmph @ 13.8 secs
Top Speed: 170 kmph

Infact SX4 would also be available in a CNG variant from october.

Also, the 1.3 MJD/DDiS is not coming in it.

thats great news
but im sure it will be an expensive car in its ZDI avatar (if they launch such an avatar)
I also hope that they introduce this as the Crossover Version which they have abroad. That will really be excellent. (ballkey's post has the pic - that is mouthwatering!)

I dont think its going to be expensive, when compared to its rivals. I hope Maruti will keep ZDI prices below 9L, and IMO it will be a superb value for money.

SX4 Diesel will canibalize Dezire Diesel if the pricing is not perfect

Somehow I never liked the Dezire with a xtra booot attached to a Swift

Hyundai Verna CRDI days are numbered now

SX4 Diesel will be stiff competition to the Linea MJD it is definitely muscular and now with xtra torque and fuel economy its a killer sedan for sure

Its a news doing rumors since last many years I think. Finally one maruti dealer in my city said that at around november or december they are expecting this car. Its not coming with 90 bhp 1248cc motor ( that is what the sales man told me ) that makes the Linea feel underpowered ( IMHO ). The diesel SX4 is likely to have around 115-120 bhp that is what I came to know.
But agian I am not sure about this news,but if this is true, surely the sales of Linea and the highly overrated ( IMHO ) G3HC will be hit.

I’m eagerly waiting for this diesel babe to get released. Hopefully would be with 1.6ltr.
Hope MSIL will price it reasonably with Linea, G3HC, Fiesta, Verna.

In any case, Maruti seems to be permanently in short supply of diesel engines for its existing fleet. Not sure how they will manage for this now unless they have a different sourcing arrangement.
