Info from MSIL dealer is that the SX4 Diesel will carry the VGT 1.3 Multijet Mill.

Apparently MS doesnt want the Diesel to be Rubber Burning monster.
Driven the Linea Diesel. Wasnt too happy about the performance. Felt even the Dzire Zdi a more eager performer. May be it is the drivability.

Would have loved the Verna's 100 BHP CRDI engine in the SX4.

B.T.W despite having a great engine the Verna is not selling much. Wonder why?

Yes, the SX4 Diesel is coming very soon with the 1.3 Multijet.

And for your OT question the way the Verna looks HIDEOUS

MS has matched Swift transmission to DDIS engine better than Punto or linea. Going by this history IMO the SX4 diesel will be a better car to drive than Linea.

Wow. Is the news confirmed? Any probable date of launch?

I like the looks of the SX4 and always wondered why MS did not offer a diesel heart.

Verna has a great engine and that's it. It looks bad, handling is poor and ride is really bad.

Saw this article on ET. Maruti seems to be working on a Diesel for SX4. Is this the same 1.3 VGT of Linea or is there something else?

So it looks like the National Diesel engine (1.3L MJD) that would make its way into the SX4. I am not too happy to hear that. MS is plonking the same engine in almost every car. Be it the 1.2L K series petrol in Swift/Ritz or the 1L K series in the Alto/A-Star/Wagon R. Why isn't MS getting imaginative and stopping this platform sharing strategy? At this rate, even the Kizashi should have the same SX4 engine!

Lets hope the diesel engine that Maruti engineers are 'developing' is not the same 1.3 MJD.

With Hyundai launching VVT engine in the i10, why can't MS do the same for the Swift/Ritz? They do sell the VVT engine in other markets.

Actually there is no clear mention of the Fiat engine in the article. Could there a possibility of the Vento Diesel for SX4? That's one heck of an engine for the SX4.

1.3 DDIS 90 HP sounds like the Linea VGT engine. So Maruti will continue to go with Fiat engines. With VW acquiring a stake in Suzuki, it would be nice to see the 1.6L TDi engine of the Vento in the SX4.

Obviously, SX4 with a weight lighter than even Punto or i20 will do much better than a 90 bhp Punto/Linea or i20 or Octavia or Altis. But this might dent DZire sales though.

Are you kidding?
I20 petrol (Asta) = 1065 kg
Punto 1.4 Pterol = 1115 kg
Sx4 ZXi = 1200 kg

Earlier it is believed that Maruti Suzuki did not have the license to produce the VGT versions of the 1.3 Multijet. Wonder how would they be able to start manufacturing this engine now.

Are there any changes in the licensing agreement?

Is the 1.3 MJD VGT engine making its way to the SX4 an indication that Fiat is planning to move to bigger diesel engines for the Linea? One can always hope...

Is it the same SX4 or the hatchback version ? Suzuki sells good number of SX4 hatchback in Germany, I like the looks of hatchback more over the sedan version.
