Yes, but I was unsure of 2007 figures. Did that include some Esteem numbers there? Or was it only SX4?
And Dzire came from March-08 right?

Hmm you got a point. I am not sure but I believe the Esteem's production was stopped before Diwali last year. Anyways DZire & Esteem would not feature together in sales figures I think

The deal which I am getting here in Pune is:
  • 25 K exchange bonus+
  • 24-25 K free Insurance+
  • 11-12K Corporate Discount.
Other than the corporate discount they are offering these discounts to everybody and SX4 any model, any color is readily available.

The SX4 sales are down for sure but so are the sales of the entire industry... The discounts are aimed at countering the discounts Honda is giving now...In fact the whole pack of cars in the C+ seg are giving good discounts... Plus from what I heard from the dealer, VXi has more discount than the ZXi.

If one takes into account the non Diesel sales in the mid segment the SX4 is doing pretty well. The only other petrol car doing better volumes is the City, but that wont suprise anyone including Maruti.
None of the petrol variants of Verna, Fiesta, Aveo, Optra, Lancer etc. etc. can even come close. Discounts are part and parcel at this time of the season and Maruti will be digging their grave thinking otherwise when even the City is getting into the discount phase.
One will definitely see the numbers jump if the SX4 is plonked vith a VVT MJD engine as TBHP has rumored.
Cmon Maruti stop wasting ure time and effort on that unwanted breadbox Estillo and start pumping out more MJDs, a Diesel SX4 - sooner the better.

The TV advertising, too, has been a bit aggressive these days on SX4.
U know they're desperate when they start pitting the SX4 against a truck!!!

Yet its no where as popular as the older balneo
Yeah,right.
With the petrol-diesel price difference of almost 20bucks, petrol cars will always have a discount on them.
Its been 19 months since the Swift Diesel was launched. Do they give a discount on it??

And that too showing the SX4 intimidating the truck . I think in the Indian context they could have shown the Sx4 intimidating a rick. That would really have proved it to be a MAN

It is the diesel Dzire that is affecting the sale of the SX4. Think of it from a layman's point of view : For the same price as a petrol Maruti sedan, he is getting a diesel Maruti sedan!

One of the main reasons you see so many SX4s on the road is that Maruti dealers were pushing off the low end SX4 to the DZire ZDI and VDI customers citing a 9 month waiting period

I think Swift is still selling well as no discounts offered though 3 years have gone by after the entry of the model.
