Maruti Suzuki SX4 Going Down?

Around 10 days back my friend had been to D.D.Motors , New Delhi for the test ride of SX4. They told him that the waiting for SX4 is 2 months.

Then 2 days back he had the test ride of Maruti Suzuki Dzire. They told him its 9 months waiting on Dzire

Also, now they have SX4 readily available with 40,000 Rs discount.

Maruti is trying to make fool of Indian Janta? because 10 days back 2 months waiting and no discounts available and after 8 days flat 40k discount and readily available?

SX4's sales are really going so down?

Throw some light on it team bhpians.

Must be on the VXi. I have heard that there aren't many takers for this.

Well one thing is for sure that it isn't doing as well as Dzire.

Also the moment Maruti put out a 25k exchange or whatever discount on SX4 it was clear that its not meeting the target as Maruti never gives a single paisa discount on a model which is doing good.

But then too you see lots of SX4 on roads so may be its not doing as good as the Swift & Dzire & hence the discounts.

I think Dzire has surely eaten into SX4 vxi sales. 40k for SX4 is quite an discount!!! I think they should do some upgrade in interiors , IMO its among the best VFM sedans in the segment let down by the quality of plastics. Hope Maruti acts fast

Here are the Maruti mid-size sales nos I picked up from the Indian Sales and Analysis thread.

Here, we don't have a break-up between DZire,Esteem, SX4. But last Oct-(07), we can safely assume that 4,177 units sold must have been only of SX4. In Aug-08, SX4 and Dzire together have sold 5,427.If they sold 3,500 units of Dzire(based on huge backlog), then the SX4 share is only 1,927. I think it is safe to assume that SX4 sales are down.
The TV advertising,too, has been a bit aggressive these days on SX4.

Yet its no where as popular as the older balneo

no doubt Sx4 is a fine car but I dont know I somehow liked the look and feel of the baleno.

The 40K includes
* exchange bonus
* Loyalty bonus
* finance payout something.

So, it seems like its just to attract the attention. I believe that the actual cash discount will be in the range of 8-12K.

It includes exchange bonux of 30K (but without actually exchanging the vehicle?). I guess it should be Loyalty bonux or whatever.

Yes, SX4 sales have come down in past couple of months. Future, they are going to release A-Star (hatch). They have to cut through the competition of 3rd gen NHC, present Aveo and Chevy Magnam where they have maintainence free and warranty for 3 years ...Will be too tough for them to sustain unless they give discounts on this car.

There is no discount on SX4 by dealer, other than corporate discount and some useless accessories.

40K is exchange bonus.

and I have not heard of any loyalty bonus on SX4

Looks like yes. Today times had an ad for SX4 with discount UPTO 40K for selected corporates.

I am waiting for a day when these guys advt for MINIMUM XX price discounts.
