Please read about a proposal to ban Handsfree like Bluetooth etc. while driving as present rule is not violated while using the same...
Stop fooling the police with your hands-free

If they're considering this, it would be wiser to catch the people who talk while driving even without a handsfree first. :Frustrati :Frustrati

One more option to collect money.

Look at this
Quote:

The traffic police have also suggested that the fine for the same should be increased from Rs 100 to Rs 2,000.
Here is the answer
Quote:

He mentions that the fine should not be increased to more than Rs 500. "If the fine is increased up to Rs 2,000, it will give rise to corruption. Cops will look to settle the matter at a lesser amount," said Singh.
I agree that there are some people who talk on hand-free and forget the road. But for that, it seems everyone should close the mouth and drive. As aditya mentioned, they may soon start catching guys who "talks" in the car, whether or not he talks on mobile :)

Such ridiculous laws! But these idiots don't know that one can take a call while driving through the stereo itself, bluetooth is not required! If they come to know about this, what are they going to do? Ban stereo's in Car's!

If this rule is implemented, I wonder what will happen to "Blue & Me" technology in Fiat cars. Will the cops catch people driving Linea's & Gp's.:D

Instead of making new laws could we not enforce existing ones first? Is there any statistics to say that talking on mobile is more dangerous and has caused more accidents than breaking red lights?

What we need is this

Sony Ericsson - Accessories - Overview

No seriously, there are so many people who dont even bother using a handsfree device and drive one-handed. Why not catch these people first and after thats been implemented properly they start thinking about banning hands-free devices. This is just another way to harass drivers and make money.

Unfortunetly, they are not doing so.

They see these handsfree users as a Law-breakers and sit, discuss and come out with recommendations to ban those handsfree also. :Frustrati

I am using this Sony Ericsson - Accessories - Overview and it is a boon, much better than mormal HF

Handsfree bluetooth ear clip ons only are going to be banned or any accessory is going to be banned. If so are the police going to be aware of such existing and evolving technology. No way!

Bluetooth can be integrated and audio available via car speakers or just plug in bluetooth speakers (into the car charger) which is not easily noticeable at all from outside!

May be they can think of catching the bikers who speak on the phone do all antics like taking the phone from the pocket, driving with one hand, see the caller, take calls, insert the phone between their head and shoulder and lean their head and keep on talking. First let them catch these people.

If they are going to catch the car drivers it will be extremely difficult as they wouldnt easily know if they are speaking to the passengers or on phone. Geeesh!

I agree. The easiest way to prevent people from breaking rules would therefore be to ban everyone from driving.

:Frustrati What a bunch of morons! :Frustrati

Idiotic people make the idiotic laws. That is what I can say. First they have to capture the people who put the mobile phones on to their neck and drive along and that to in 2 wheelers. These are the people who are more dangerous than the people who are speaking and driving in cars.

Nowadays, everybody drives in front of traffic cop speaking over phone and he is just a mute spectator. Does not even bother to stop and ask.

Idiotic!!! As some members said here, it should then be as good as a ban to talk inside the car. Talking over handsfree should not be as worse than discussions / arguments with co-passengers (more specifically with spouse:Frustrati).

Stupid proposal---as stupid as banning music on cars in Mumbai!
How will the cops ever get to know if someone is on handsfree mode?
