Can't wait to get my hands on the new one. I am sure that it would rev up the sales for Honda and would set the segment on fire.

Those looks like its for the Jazz. City is heavier, and then we need to think about Indian fuel conditions and city traffic congestion. It it gets 11mpl/16kmpl it would be fantastic. I guess a well driven IDSI city would give you 12/18.

I somehow feel Honda would have had a bigger success if they bought in the 1.2 instead. I am not complaining though - as 1.5 116 bhp will be a hoot to drive and still will be reasonably efficient.

Looks good on paper atleast. I do think the car can do with wider tyres and rear discs. IMHO, climate control should be made available - atleast as an option.

Are the dealers accepting the bookings for the new city, or is it that they are not discussing anything about it yet?

I agree with some of the members here. Honda should offer a cheaper 1.3L engine version. IT would cater to the City and eco-conscious drivers.

Especially with the current fuel prices and you cant really drive all that fast on most of Indian roads either because of poor road conditions or over crowded roads.

The engine sounds exciting. Although peak torque is at 4700rpm. Wouldn't that be a little too high.

The specs don't show the front seat arm rest. Just as I expected, it's been done away with. Also, no leather? No talk of fake wood finish interior too. Thank God! But ABS and Twin Airbags on all variants is great. I expect Maruti to provide the same on the SX4 VXi very soon. Hopefully, GM, Ford, Fiat, Hyundai will do the same at least on their petrol variants.

I think not giving a CD option with the audio is not a good idea. I don't think India has reached that stage where everyone is going to have a USB or Ipod to play their music.

Wow

HONDA has really out-done itself.
  1. Paddle shifts on the automatic brings the F1 experience closer, it doesn't get better than this
  2. Air-bags as standard means so much more peace of mind
If I really had to complain, then it would be the lack of all wheel independent suspension and all wheel disc brakes. But, guess i'll trust the HONDA engineers, maybe what they have given us is sufficient for our needs

This is now my dream car. What a middle class boy like me would aspire for as the ultimate driving machine

It should be 9.5 OTR in pune w/o any accessory . If the cd player is not present then with standard accessory's ( Seat covers + filming + Music system etc etc ) it should be 10+Lkh OTR in pune.

nice figures. but don't think it would be close to OHC VTEC. Where is the RS trim?
Lets wait for test drive report and see how much of a driver's car it is. I still feel it is a big sedan good for a pleasant cool highway drive.

The current VTEC gets it's peak torque at 4800RPM. So, this is a slight improvement. To compare, the Civic gets its 172 Nm at 4300RPM. So all Honda "performance" engines are quite rev-happy.

I believe it is the sort of remote lock which confirms the car's status on your keyfob. So you know the car has received the lock/unlock command even if it's out of view.

At least, that's what I think.

Sid, great, thanks

Some thoughts -
  • 8.5 lacs ex-showroom would be a super price, hope it actually happens
  • Good to see Airbags & ABS on all the variants, FINALLY!
  • No alloys, no CD player & no leather - come on Honda, lets have the "complete package" just once!
  • Why drum brakes at the rear - doesn't the current Vtec come with disks at the rear already?

Great Job Sid. You are the "Breaking News" guy.
I think just like they did with Civic, we would get a black colour after sometime. Good to note that they are giving all the safety features as std. (ABS, Airbags, G-CON).

A GC of 160 is like the outgoing model, but would the 15" wheels help in any way? Need to see.

A fuel consumption readout would be helpful.
