That seems correct since this month's ACI has covered the Thai City and explicitly talks about lack of CD player. They mention that Honda has left a slot so you can add an aftermarket one.

The 1.3L iVtec would be launched early next year and more color options are also in the pipeline. I believe the delay is to clear the existing ZX stocks :-)

Wall Street Journal has reported the launch of new Honda City in India on 25-9-08.

Honda Unveils New Version Of City Model in India - WSJ.com

It says:

NEW DELHI – Honda Motor Co. President Takeo Fukui on Thursday unveiled a new version of the City, Honda's best-selling compact sedan in India, aiming to boost sales in this key emerging market as concern grows of a global slowdown in the auto industry.
With sales in the U.S., the world's largest auto market, falling to their lowest levels in years, auto makers have looked to red hot markets like India and China to help pick up the slack.
But now, these other auto markets are also showing signs of weakness. In India, auto sales fell in August, the second monthly decline in a row. Sales in China also fell, marking the first decline in auto sales in two years.
"Even in India, they are not immune to the cyclical nature of the economy," says Tatsuo Yoshida, an analyst for UBS Securities in Tokyo. "Investors have been very nervous about near term prospects of the Indian automobile market."
Looking to draw buyers back into the dealer showrooms during the upcoming festival months in India, Honda's new City model is part of a wave of new vehicle launches by car makers into the country's increasingly crowded auto market.

Not true, both the E (to be launched early next year) and S versions are with the 1.5 SOHC i-VTEC engine.

I am tempted to get my hands on this for my wife. The power and torque, specs, price look tempting. However, I still have 4 lakhs to pay on Corolla. Perhaps in 2009.

Actually, it seems the price range is 7.7-8.9 and not 8.7. What is certain is that it has been launched today. Maybe the website will be updated later today.
