Length is cited as 4595 mm . What was the earlier length?? I think they have increased the length or there is some misprint

^^The increased length is because of extended bumpers. The length is the same as the Cedia Sports. The length of the older Spirit/Select was 4480mm.

Looks like the accountants are running the show and not the enthusiasts. Its high time Mitsu gave the market an updated quality product and shake up competition!

Forget the looks as the same can be subjective. I personally like the chrome grill rather than the current one.

What I am amazed at is the bhp figure....115 bhp for a 2000 cc engine ??? I mean, forget the Corolla and the Civic which have better bhp figures with 1800 cc engines....even the new Honda City (to be launched soon) will have better power with its 1500 cc power plant.

Also, whats with Mitsubishi sticking to SOHC engines for India ?? Can't they come out with a DOHC for such a high capacity engine ??

To compensate for the low bhp figure. I am sure the milage is around 20kmpl.. nah..more like 9kmpl.

Sooner Mitsubishi distances itself from the ambywallas from HM, the better. Otherwise, they will be the laughing stock for the whole auto industry.

Now with new Corolla and new Honda city around, I don't think there'll be any buyers for Cedia.
Let's wait and see if they do something different for Cedia Sports.

Doesn't anyone else think that the front end is like that of a Nissan Teana?

Looks like HM is expanding on the knowledge it picked up through the Amby Mark 1 - IV

I was surprised that nobody noticed this.

Rear Brakes: The old Cedia had 14" discs in the rear and now it has been upgraded to 15" discs.

GTO, it is. Ajmat first mentioned this. This grille replaced the older one in US for 1 year before the launch of Lancer X. The old smiling grill looked lifted from a Dodge (and got heavy criticism in US) and the later one from a Nissan ;-)
Changing grills, bumpers and bonnet is speciality of HM!

In US, the current Lancer (2.0 MIVEC) with 152 BHP is considered to be a very good engine.
It more powerful than the Corolla, MAZDA3 and the Civic.

In India, they seem to plonk a detuned engine and sit with the same product for 10+ years.

The new Cedia is an eyesore from the front. The happy looking grill replaced by a chrome-grill reminds me of the old Lancer grill (looked awesome) replaced to vertical chrome grills (terrible looking). HM has done it again! Not quite shocking! What more do we expect from them!

Slighly OT: Well, a semblance of good news could be round the corner. I picked up the Sep copy of Autocar a week back. Yesterday evening I browsed through it again and reached a section where scoops are featured. Lo and behold! A scoop of the next Gen Lancer based on the Evo was sighted by somebody near the Chennai airport. Autocar believes HM are testing this and could well be heading to Mitsu showrooms in a few months time. It is again wishful thinking on the part of Autocar, but I guess they have to provide these news to juice up their editions. Nonetheless, most car enthusiasts would be pleased if the new Lancer made it to the shores sooner than later. Tired of seeing the Lancer and the Cedia still in the showrooms.

Grill job really grilled the character away. Very little change from the prev. gen. Lancer apart from the direction of the slots.

HU is quite gamer-oriented. Watch the kids trying to play with it while you want glance at the left OVRM!

Did anyone spot the changes with the rear tail lamps? I just couldn't figure that thing out!!

Well, there is some similarity! In a Khan-marketish sort of way

But you shout compare at what RPM the power and torque is generated.

Here is how it compares (2008NHC Vs Cedia Vs Altis)

118 PS@6600 rpm Vs 115 PS@5250 rpm Vs 132 PS @ 6000 rpm
146 Nm@4600 rpm Vs 175 Nm@4250 rpm Vs 170 Nm @ 4200 rpm

Cedia is still ahead of 2008NHC as per this comparison.

But I am sure the additional power on NHC should make a difference. The 2nd gen was too sluggish, don't expect it from 3rd gen.

Corolla Altis is a clear winner here in terms of engine spec.
We have to wait and watch for the rest.
