So, the Sumo Grande is going to available in 4x4? Or is it the Safari GX that you are referring to ?

Well the thread owner is very much here

Though knowing it was coming in Feb initially but getting shifted to april - may time frame and not so sure answers from the trusted mouths( why i dont know, economic recession etc maybe), i was refraining my self to give any false information on this thread.
But i guess people with better access than me are already updating the information here which is good.

Please do so if you are able to distinguish any new feature/s on Safari GX.

For the moment, can you pl. compile the feature list in GX, compare with the existing versions & tell us where exactly the new version will be positioned?

Just saw the new safari ad on TV. the only thing that I could make out was that the safari was in two tone- the body was a deep green and the cladding was painted creamish....looked quite good IMO

A Tata person has confirmed me to wait for another month as another Variant is in-line for launch which might be named as Safari GX.

Features to be added:
- New tones added to interior. Some three or four tone interior to be introduced.
- ABS and EBD to be included in the variant. Though Airbags might not be provided in the said version.
- Small Exterior changes are in-line as well.

He wasn't sure about introduction of 4x4 in the said version.

Safari GX has been launched

The relevant parts of the press release are below:

Quote:
Tata Motors has expanded its Safari DICOR 2.2 range with the addition of a new Gx variant. The current Safari DICOR range comprises three variants: Lx, Ex and Vx. The Gx, with several high end comfort and safety features, has been positioned below Vx, the top end variant. The new variant offers enhanced value to the Safari customer at an attractive price point below the top end variant.

Safari Gx has been offered with dual tone exteriors in select shades, a first for the Safari range. Interiors of the Safari Gx sport a unique leather cum fabric upholstery. Two sought after features of Vx have been offered on the Gx: reverse guide system to aid the driver while reversing and ABS with EBD. Safari was the first vehicle in the country to offer the Reverse Guide System using a camera in the rear bumper and the Internal Rearview Mirror as the Screen. Another new feature is indicators on the Outer Rear View Mirrors. This feature will be extended to other variants of Safari also. Alloy wheels are standard on the Gx on both 4x2 and 4x4 versions

Safari Gx has been launched at a price of Rs. 9.95 lakhs (ex showroom Delhi) for the 4x2 version and 10.87 lakhs (ex showroom Delhi) for the 4x4 version. The price of the Safari DICOR range starts at Rs.7.67 lakhs (ex showroom Delhi)

Very good news!! Now I should get ready fast. Toyota didn't listen to multiple requests to offer ABS in their middle variants of Innova. I don't know when they will learn such things.

I strongly advise If every manufacturer comes with ABS as standard feature with 20k premium in 8+lacs category it would be too good for customers.

Regards,

Ravi.
