Interesting find Harishsegar!

Did not know until a few seconds back that CD technology (or antiquated technology) has now come to provide cushioning and damping The ICE guys should be really really alarmed at this

Sorry for being OT.

They should've introduced GX at EX pricepoints. At just 1 lakh less than the VX, this really doesnt make sense unless you're a fan of dual-tone paintjobs and flashy ORVM mounted indicators that will be the first casualty on our manic roads. If I'm putting in 12 lakhs, I might as well get full leather and airbags from the VX at about 90k more.

Senseless positioning. Another variant that wont sell.

and the newly slashed scorpio prices dont help either. I had been trying to talk a friend into buying a safari, but now that he can get an mhawk LX for <8, there is nothing i can do to convince him

Me too. Had all but settled on the GX 4x4 but the Scorpio SLE with Mhawk, ABS and 4x4 for about 9 lakhs sounds like a good deal. Too bad for the kids, they will have to settle for the middle row of the Scorpio instead of being pampered behind a Safari :-).

I dont think they are offering 4 wheel drive with the 2.2 mHawk.

All they need to build mass market is a 4X4 LX with ABS but seems greed of couple of lakhs by introducing frills worth thousands is taking it's toll.

M&M did the same mistake by discontinuing 2.6 DX and introducing only VLX first after 2 months in may 2008 introduced VLS but now they have done course correction quite fast with SLE and LX and for another 6 months to 1 year till Safari marketing team puts their act in order Mahindra will be unchallenged. Now I believe all interviews of Anand Mahindra where he puts stress on process innovation.

I went to the new Scorpio launch in new delhi. I was told that there is no 4X4 option on the 2.2 mHawk. The 4X4 version only comes with the 2.6 CRDe

When I got a quote in chennai for the Safari in Dec 2008 the price for the the 2+2/150000 was Rs. 6500 so I think it has been Rs. 6500 for a while now. I think it is a no brainer and everyone who buys a Safari should take it.

Based on this logic since the 2.6 CRDe has been discontinued from the Scorpio range except for Getaway I would assume that 4x4 has been discontinued as well. Since it has just been launched a lot of the information is probably not out fully yet. Let's give it some time before writing off a Scorpio 4WD with the 2.2 engine. BTW the version in the advertisements in the dessert in Dubai is an Mhawk with the 4WD.

TM has really been checkmated big time by Mahindra right now. They will have to respond fast - a Mhawk engine 2.2 LX at 7.21 is almost recession beater. The VTT in Oct 2007 was around 7.27 or so ex-calcutta. TM sure will have come to up with something now, to hold on to the market.

One point, from a pure offroader POV, a LSD does make a difference in a number of off-road situations. LSD with 4wd [safari] is much more potent than just 4wd [scorpio].

They withdrew the LX 4wd sometime in 2006 for the 3.0 and never introduced it in 2.2 series - they easily could have found some extra customers - in fact on a immediate basis they should be doing this before thinking about how to come out with a reply for the different versions of mhawk at a similar price point.
