Folks, Compare the Ikon with Dzire, not the hatch Swift.

Yes - at times the pricing may tempt some hatch prospect to shift to a sedan, but then the considerations are very different. But for meanigful one-to-one comparision let it be with the Dzire.

aha, so Ford has heeded this thread!
They have gone ahead and done killer pricing, especially since I`m sure the 5.19 will become 5L very soon due to discounts.
Now atleast some taxiwallahs will surely buy, considering that the Dezire waiting period will probably drive them out of business!

Anyone thats driven both the Dzire Diesel and the Fiesta Diesel? How do they compare?

now thats something by Ford, Ikon has been always know for its drivability, with that minor face lift, duratorque diesel engine and nonetheless the best pricing sure its gonna win some hearts.

I for one find the footwell of Ikon too cramped compared to any other car (maybe I have big feet) which prompted me to look at other cars.

Am I the only ine?

OT but I think the most cramped footwell award has to go to the Corsa

Same with me. Especially the handling, nothing comes close. Not a single rattle to attend to after 4.5 years. Speaks highly about the build quality.

Moreover even with those small ORVM's provides a great all round view. As regards nimbleness, there isn't any lacking in that department with the Ikon. The brakes aren't strong, but then the car does not loose poise underbraking, on top of it, for the Ikon, the brakes dont lock-up.

It might be old, but its got everything it takes, apart from a few ergonomic glitches which can be lived with, since the basic car really rocks.

+1 to you. IKON should be compared with DZire VDI and not with swift.

Dont you agree even there, the Dzire pales against the Ikon TDCi on the price front?

Definitely. That’s the reason I would like to have a comparison between DZire VDI and IKON.
And the comparison should be in the areas of Price, , Performance, Comfort, Handling, FE, Features, Availability, Build Quality, A. S. S, frequency of spares requirement( Quality of the Spares), Spare’s cost, etc.,

aah for the first time I have read through 10 pages on Ford with people mentioning more pros than cons . Now that we have said this, hats off to Ford for launching the Ikon TDCI at a killer price. The grouse I have is no ABS or Airbags, rear boot remote opener and rear defogger even as an option. But who knows, maybe after testing the waters they might include those things at a higher price.
One thing is sure though, I love the Ikon. It feels solid, no rattles or creaks in a little over 3 years I have had it and is an awesome handler.
Aah if only GTO had not started the thread on not changing cars too often ( I have decided to abide to his logic on this as it really feels right) I would have bought it with my eyes closed.

As of now, Only one model available in Ikon 1.4TDCi and the price is 5.19L Ex. Show room.

Fiesta Exi would cost you about 7.1L Ex. show room.
