There are no mention of the variants

still
-no option for climate control
-tube type tyres
-no immobilizer

the package looks less enticing IMHO

great work sid,but i seriously dont think whether they will be able to match with maruti/tata.atleast both have dealers and service centres,however ford has only 3 dealers in delhi.

i dont know how many of you would agree with me here but i dont like the looks. i mean c'mon guys the tail lamps, the instrument cluster the side and rear profile are almost the same. if you are reintroducing a car please work on it alil.
and to add to all of this, its not feature rich. so i dont know how many would buy this version.
comments appreciated!!

Sidindica does it again! How? How do you manage pulling off all these exclusives?????

Back to the topic, does not look like an out and out winner given that our driving tastes and our needs & wants from our cars have grown at a pace faster than the evolution of IKON from what it was and what it promises to be shortly Appears to me more of a stop gap arrangement than a permanent upgrade with long term customer interests in mind.

Looks like they have taken some of the suggestions from existing Ikon owners seriously. Such as:

* Better brakes
* Improved odo and speedo console
* Backlit lighting for the speedo console
* Digital meters
* 2 years and 1,00,000 kms warranty from the company, plus additional extended warranty.

However, the same door handles even now.
Door beadings have been removed ala the Fiesta.

ABS should have been an option, IMO.

Excellent job, once again sidindica! Now, lets see how they price it.

I might sound absurd, but then this is too much an effort from ford to keep the Ikon going for a couple of more years. Sure the overall car is good, but at the same time very dated.
The headlamps look like overgrown and swelled objects, and the grille is not in line with rest of the body.
This is too old a design to work on. The lights, grille are not good. Bumper is saving grace, but then as soon as the front end is over, its very dated specially when one looks at the A-pillar and windscreen. The basic layout is not very much changed.
To summarize, its too old a car to be worked on. With this " upgrade ", the grace this car had also goes away.

This is good news. How I see it is that, spare parts of this car are going to be reasonable and accessible for a longer duration. Great.

It doesn't look as dated as some of us are making it out to be.

I like the front end looks of the current version, but perhaps seeing the car in person would change that.

Tubed tyres in this day and age is a disappointment. Pricing of the car and especially the spares would be the key to success.

What if it is priced to kill Swift Diesel? Any day I will prefer an Ikon over Swift, just for the amazing handling and drivability. Afterall why would someone wait for 6 months (or even more ) to get a car?

How long would they keep selling the 20th century interiors ??
We call Palio out-dated...isn't the ikon older and essentially with no considerable changes made till date ?

I think this car needs a serious overhaul, not just changes in headlights, grills and interior colours.

Going by how Ford price their cars in india, I would not be surprised if the OTR price is northwards of 6.5L and if I were to spend that kind of money, I would go and buy the Getz CRDi -a much much better car overall.

Maybe it will look better in flesh! hope they blacken the mid-front bumper as in fiesta s.

would have looked better had they taken a bit more traditional approach in the design.

here's what i would ve done to my car...

I think looks like a good package. Like karan said if the diesel is around 6.5 then it will do very well. I'm sure the reason why ford skipped on the airbags and abs is to keep the ikon tdci in a lower segment then the fiesta. Other wise it would start eating on the fiesta's sales figures. Just a thought.
