Karnataka Road tax is almost 2.5 times that of Delhi and is the one of the highest in the country! You know we have the "best" roads

The Road Tax in KA is considerably high! So the 1 L difference.

Btw! The New Ikon is priced very well. The best driver's car in that segment.

With all this talk of good pricing by Ford, I'm really hoping they reduce the price of Spares as well.
The way things are currently, I start getting palpitations every time the car needs some work. I recently paid between 1.5 - 2 k to get the resistors for my blower knob changed!

petrol is 70 PS, and diesel is 68 PS.

1 PS = 0.986 bhp

Excellent pricing by FORD. But like many of you pointed out here:
1. Ford needs to reduce the pricing of spares. I have friends who cry out everytime their IKON goes for a service
2. Provision of ABS / Airbags at a later stage with alloy wheels. They can name it the sports version or something

they have removed teh side rubbing strips on teh doors which was an Ikon trademark. the sides looked naked now, IMHO.

the NXT1.6 is still the best looking variant of the Ikon till date, i feel.

It is very difficult for a manufacturer to introduce things like ABS & airbags for a model that is so old.
For ABS, the development cost itself needs to be amortized over the production of several years, including redesigning other components as well.
Similarly, Airbags would mean a new steering column, steering wheel, dashboard, impact sensors and an ECU.

Furthermore, these things take over a year to develop and implement.

I think we can safely say that we should stop expecting them on this car.

I had asked earlier on in the thread what they meant by 'sides with no contours'. It's probably just the deletion of the side strips. Looks very odd in my opinion.

Totally agree with you on both the points mentioned above!

Good job on the pricing front, which i have always maintained was the key here. Now, lets see if India would see some people who decide they dont want to drive home in just a Maruti. :P

Actually its strange as to why they arent offerring the airbags at an additional cost, as the Bantam which is the pickup version of the Ikon in SA has them! I am not sure if that has ABS though.

EDIT : About the side strips, how about they provide them, in body color, like on the Fiesta?
