i was surprised to see the prices of all their vehicles have gone as high as RS 60,000 to 1,00,000 without letting anyone know about it.

if this goes on forever, Mitsubishi has to leave India for good.

how come an obsolete 10-year old lancer be more expensive than a verna CRDI SX? check out the prices of cedia-straight into altis/civic territory.

are they hitting their axe on their own foot with this wrong strategy?

why would one pay a premium for their decade old products no longer sold around the world?

outlander is also gone for good as it is horribly overpriced (for a CKD) as compared to a CR-v, tucson or captiva (all CBUs)

i don't know about the discount factor, but outlander prices have gone up by 80,000, cedia by 60,000, montero manuel by around 80,000, pajero-first was 18.81, then jacked to 19.10, then to 19.80, and now 20.90 lacs, as per the website.

They were not selling a lot anyways. I wonder how many lancers they sell each month?

It could be the dollar effect. The dollar has appreciated almost 20% in past few months, with these multinational companies not only cars, parts machinery but the biggest factor price of increase of cost coming from salaries they pay in Dollar.

Every company would have done it but the economic slowdown is stopping them.

There are mostly two possibilities
1) They are doing a lot of business ( read high sales ).
2) They are doing very bad business ( read poor sales ).

IMHO, its the second condition that has driven them crazy. Lancer Cedia must not be more than 10 lakhs on the road. This is a discontinued model that they are still selling at a very high cost. Compare it with Corolla Altis and Civic, both of which are in line with the latest offering in International market.

They cannot survive like this. If the price quoted in the posts in this thread are correct, then surely they will have to shut their shop down.
Its time for new Lancer, but no news on that.

You should probably pass on that feedback to that Sales Manager person you know - and tell him not to keep shooting themselves in the foot

I keep on wondering how much of a hit Montero would be, if they stop CBU it and star assembling it over here, as the price would DEF come out to be around the 30 range, and it would fetch them alot more buyers.

The Mitsubishi sales guys I met had hinted on a hike some 3-4 back itself. My feeling is that they had planned an increase anyways. The dollar effect could be partially true, but that does not seem to be the only reason.
