Why do we all cover-up the number plates of our cars/bikes/scooters in pictures?

Many of us post pictures of our cars in threads, posts and in the team BHP garage.Some of us camouflage the number plates so that the car/bike number is not visible for others. I have never done it on my cars/bikes and have rarely done so in the other pictures posted by me.
What could be the reason for the camouflage? I hope we will have a lively discussion on this issue with many views being put forth here.
According to me, its just a state of mind and nothing else.
Here's a car picture I posted with a camouflaged number plate a few days back, as the owner wanted to remain anonymous.

Very observative thread!
This thing came to my mind a couple of times, but just did not post!
I think its got to do with the same mantality by which people do not register with their true names & are reluctant to share their pics.
Most believe web is not a safe place!

I know you must be curious but why not use the search feature to find out the reasons.

There was no need for a new thread IMHO (and I can see that you have created not one but two threads with the same title)
