But it would be hard not to believe the Business Standard news. Anyways, my decision to book Linea will remain same if they launch on 16th Dec. Will wait and see till 16th before I look for other options.

Fiat India web site was showing Dec Launch for Linea, but now it is not there :( ...

Though I am waiting for Punto mutljet 1.3 90 bhp but Fiat should have launched Linea 120 bhp, this would have made Linea in compleltly different segment. I think only Skoda offers Turbo Charged petrol engine as of now.

Well, from what BSM says, the Linea is not very driveable and gear ratio changes are a must. Anyway, I think only an initial test drive will dispel our doubts. Lets wait and watch for Jan '09 (hopefully!)

How about changing it to "may or maynot come" ?!

I think we are wasting precious bandwidth discussing about the Linea.. I hope my kids will manage to buy the Grande Punto in India :(

Wow, I am darn happy I didn't waste more time waiting for crappy FIAT to launch the Linea, had waited for 6 months and then finally in October took a decision that this company is one of the most unreliable in the Indian market.

Fiat international is earning a lot from selling MJD engines. According to The Hindu around a year back they posted an article. The article states that Fiat is trying to establish a major engine manufacturing facility. There was no emphasis on its cars or about fiat-india.

I think fiat-india is a subsidiary to fiat inc. as to fraudulantly register fiat losses and earn tax cuts and incoom tax reduction

Many manjor MNC comanies do this kind of tactics to earn tax benifits.

So, the rule which I hear and folow is "Forget fiat cars, instead buy Tata who has more fiat in it"

If they don't make money in the first place, where is the question of benefiting from tax ??

Looks like the delay in launch of Linea is confirmed. See this: Car_Makers_Prefer_New_Year_to_Launch

Why can't they do a soft launch as planned on Dec/16
