No way it's going to replace Wagon-R, if we go by the Maruti way of introducing new cars. It'll be another addition to its stable.

My point was that using the international name 'Splash' would add the brand image.

Ritz. Now there's something with equals the yuck factor of the car's rear. The front I love.

And what's MSIL thinking? With that price tag and those engine options it's going to give unnecessary competition to the Swift. Rather than crowding the customer mindspace MSIL needs to think of replacing existing models in order to project a progressive, with-it image.

This car is another inspired design from MUL staple. Puntoish front and Mercedez A 140 / Renualt Megane inspired rear. Nothing exciting or new...

@ Aseem.. nothing exciting or new but a completley new and sporty and racy looking younger sibling to the already hot swift..and also the ddis motor..

Perfect recipe for a success in the Indian Market.

I feel Maruti should have launchd this one in India instead of the A-star.

As long as a Maruti sells, they(MSIL) are happy.
Hah...good one! Fully agree. Can really never understand why they pit their own models against each other.

love the wheels-at-the-corner styling, aggressive front and the quirky rear..might look yummy with chunky alloys.

is it really more spacious than the Swift at the rear? Doesn't look it...

frankly I didnt much like the design. especially the rear. I feel it kinda out of place. I feel the one good thing with even if i some one crash into the back. u wont feel the difference.

Splash (Sorry, I didn't like the name Ritz) is longer, taller than the Swift, and has equal width. Yes, the rear space is better than the Swift according to ACI. But what is compromised? The boot! Its smaller than the already small Swift boot.

The rear of the Ritz nee Splash looks "pre-dented" for the indian traffic!

It looks nice.

The rear design will (hopefully) save it from getting scratched by motorcycle rears when parking.

Esp what I have circled in Red:

Maruti will never mind if their models are competing each other - they just need to sell a Maruti.

I also don't like the name 'Ritz', eventhough the car looks futuristic. 'Splash' is the best name for this car.

BTW, let me ask - can another company buy an already registered name from some other company? If that's possible, why can't Maruti buy that name and use it?

For a hatchback having big boot, I like to see the original SX4 hatchback introduced here. It's such a beauty, has big boot as well.

Does a car name really make a difference to it's sales figures ?
The last time I heard about it was in Brazil, with the Ford Pinto.
I think as long as the name is non-offending, people go for the car / manufacturer virtues than the name.

As I see it, i think there is still place for Maruti to price it around the Swift with a higher version of Ritz which can be more expensive.
- the M800 is the price competitor - something for Maruti to compete at the lowest end of the market which has been its turf and where it still faces no competition
- the Alto is for the budget / first time buyer
- the A-Star is for the 2-family guy, a city run-about for the couple
- the Wagon R / Zen Estilo are budget family cars
- the Swift is a premium hatchback with sporty appeal
- the Ritz would be a premium hatchback for the family - Somebody looking to upgrade from the Alto / Wagon R

Yikes!! The Suzuki design team seems to be smoking a lotta bong nowadays. Somehow all their so called 'new designs' seem outright confused and messed up, especially on the rear. They seem stuck somewhere between the traditional heritage and modern lines.

It all started with the Estilo, SX4, Dzire, A-star and now this.

Rear of this car is a disaster and the name Ritz is more of it. Maruti designers are losing their mind with so many new launches.
