Seems some people live in their cars and keep them running always. My vehicle's odo readings are:

Bajaj Calibre Feb 2001- April 2003, KM clocked 16,750
Maruti 800 July 2002- Jan 2004, KM clocked 16,500
Maruti Zen Feb 2004- Oct 2008, KM clocked 71,500
Dzire Nov 2008- currently, KM clocked 7,100

Plan to cross 150,000 in my Dzire in the next 5 years.

800

98,000+ kms on my 2002 5 speed maruti 800!!! And the engine still feels like brand new. Still does 110 kmph effortlessly on the odo on highways and go upto 120+ if pushed.

Maruti M.A.S.S serviced all along.

My 1989 Nissan Pulsar 1.8 has 298,000 km on the clock. I bought it with 268,000 and put the rest on in a year and a half. About 3 months ago it blew the head gasket so I re-conditioned the head and ported the intake. The bottom end of the motor didn’t need any work and the car goes good now.
My 1993 Mitsubishi Pajero which is my everyday car reads 294,000km and the 3Ltr V6 is still strong as a bull. I take it 4WDing at least twice a week and do a fair bit of highway driving and she hasn’t missed a beat. I put the car on gas recently and I believe those engines burn valves so I might pull the heads off and put harder valve seats if the valves start mushrooming into the head, but for now I’ll keep driving it until it goes.
Might also do a timing belt and a water pump whenever I get some spare time.
If you think 300,000km is a lot, last month I drove a 1999 Toyota Hiace with 1.1 million kilometres on the clock. I work on heaps of taxis, most of them being Ford Falcons and they do a good 700,000+ kilometres in their 6 year life. They go through half a dozen transmissions, heads, two dozen radiators and at least a 100 tyres and brake pads in those 6 years.

I take it you work on your car by yourself. In countries where labor is expensive it doesn't make sense to take an old car to the dealer and say "here service it". The labor bill will exceed the value of the car.

hey

Just saw a bolero taxi 2days back, run 2,57,000kms in 3-4 years, mind boggling. Spoke to the driver who clocked all the miles. Says he changed tyres 5 times till now & had a new radiator installed, rest is water, oil , diesel & good fortune coz he runs on the highway & theres no scratch on the car, great!

I drive about 10k a year so it would take 25yrs at that rate for me to complete 250k. Another one is my dad who lived most of his life in the gulf, he had bought a nissan 180b station wagon in 1982. Sold it when he came back in april 2008, believe it or not it clocked 3,19,000kms with out any major repair, just regular maintanance.

I know coz i have seen it, i learnt to drive in that car. The car is still running coz he didnt sell it, gifted it to his long time friend. A legend for me.
