48 years and 576000 miles, whats the highest mile-age car you've driven

Saw this in yahoo today, amazing to believe-
93-year-old Florida woman retires her

I never knew cars could last this long even with dedicated maintenance. I rarely see cars crossing the 6 figure mark. Do our cars have this kind of longevity?

Mod: Please move/merge this thread if this is not the right place.

How about this from the same page?

Irv Gordon's 1966 Volvo P1800 is scheduled to reach 3 million miles this year. Gordon has held the record in the Guinness Book of World Records for most miles on a noncommercial vehicle since 1998. Even without the world record, Vietch is fond of noting that the car has outlasted three marriages. Mechanically, it's worn through three sets of shocks, 18 batteries and eight mufflers.

I am FLOORED!!!!!

It is great to see that she has been using the car for so long and takes care of it like a baby. Seems like no body is allowed to touch it. Just saw her old interview in youtube and if I understand correctly, oil and filter changes are done by herself. She has maintained complete history right from the original invoice.

Though the car done huge miles, seems like engine rebuild was done more than once. I did not listen properly, but she said something like the first time it was done by an idiot.

The highest mileage car I have driven is my dads 1968 Amby with 2 Lakh plus km on it(Isuzu G1 diesel), and this car probably had done another lakh with its original petrol engine.

We generally inclined to think that cars live is over by the time it reaches 1 Lakh km and if some one does 2 Lakh km we think before travelling in that car. But the fact is that most modern cars easily go much beyond this. Infact there are quite a few on the forum with very high mileage. Though I did not see, I've heard of some innovas in taxi segment with 6+ lakh km. Ofcourse it is still much less than 5.62 Lakh miles.

Kudos to the lady.

Some of the hi mileage examples that I have come across
  1. 1998 Amby Isuzu which, in 1999,had done 4,00,000kms
  2. this Octy Taxi in Israel(not too sure of the country) which had 6,50,000 on its odo(source was ACI)
  3. @raj_5004 can sure give more examples

Examples? Are you referring to my cars? Mine is nothing buddy.

I have had 3 Scorpios -
non-CRDe has crossed 2 Lac kms
CRDe had crossed 1.7 Lac kms (now sold)
mHawk had crossed 70000 kms (now sold)

Then I have an Innova which has done a Lac.

But there are some members in this forum who have done much much more than the above numbers. For example, Mr. H V Kumar.

I have just completed 100000 on my 2008 Swift Vdi and wifey already wants to send it packing. It still feels good as new and the New Swift just doesn't impress me.

re: Highest reading on the odometer!

My 5-digit odometer on the Maruti Esteem turned to zero and hasn't been driven much since then. It just went over 117,000 km this week, though most of the distance was covered when it was borrowed by friends and extended family.
