I gave a call to a Skoda dealer today .. he told me the revised price is out and then went on to tell me the earlier price !!

On further discussions, it became evident that they have the new prices but are hesitating to share it yet. Said he'll give me a call back.

He did mention a "tentative" figure which suggested a 2% drop.

VooDoo : Spoke to a person from Ganges Ford (Kolkata) today and asked about the CENVAT reduction. He started with "You see all these major corporates anticipates these early and due to this Ford has already reduced the price".
Did he also say that they were the ones who got GoI to reduce the CenVAT ?

pshyamsundar : This is really confusing in the from ford.
Ford's website does not quote actual prices, unlike other manufacturers. Even now, Ford's website is only showing the promotional prices. Come 13 Dec, this too will be taken off.

Wonder's why's Ford so uppity about the prices of their cars.

Incorrect deduction...

New Price and savings on each model

Model Current Price(Rs) | New Price(Rs) | Saving(Rs)

Getz (GLX 1.3) 498,548 | 483,298 | 15,251

All the above prices are Ex-showroom, Delhi
Now that is crap and a dishonest calculation by Hyundai. On the GLX 1.3 here, the current price before deduction of 4% is shown as Rs. 498,548. A 4% deduction on this should make the new price Rs. 478606.08. Instead, they have calculated the new price as Rs. 483,298.

Based on Hyundai's declared new price, the CENVAT deduction seems to be only 3.058%. And not 4%.

This is unfair.. How and to whom should/can this be reported? I am in the plan of booking the GLX 1.3 and I don't want to be denied the 4% that Hyundai 'claims' to be passing fully to the customers [they are denying customers of the extra Rs. 4692 that they should be receiving (plus reductions in insurance and road tax too)].

Else they should aleast be daring and claim exact figures, instead of lying that they are passing full benefit to customer. 3.058% is nowhere close to 4%.

You cant complain to anyone. It is upon the manufacturer if they have to pass on the benefit, and by how much, to the customers. There are other industries who do not pass on the benifit to customers. Car manufacturers did it to revive the sales which is going down. It is not surprising that they do not give full 4% benefit to customers.

The only thing you can do is to sue hyundai for misleading the customer with the ad which says full benefit is passed to customer. Good Luck!!!

Are you sure it 9.99? That's a fantastic price! Where would that leave ANHC?

I think you have not calculated the right way. The 4% reduction should be made on the basic excise duty component and not the ex showroom price. Please check all these before you shoot out a mail to the manufacturer. I feel your comments have been too harsh (crap & dishonest)

Ex-showroom prices in Bangalore (from the respective websites):

Civic 1.8V MT : Rs. 1,193,000
Civic 1.8V AT : Rs. 1,261,000
Civic 1.8E MT : Rs. 999,900
Corolla Altis 1.8G : Rs. 1,047,265

The Civic V MT, V AT variants cost marginally higher than in Noida, but they've made sure the base variant stays under 10L to ensure it falls one segment lower in the road-tax calculations.

From my calculations the following would be the prices (only road tax considered):
Civic 1.8E MT : Rs. 999,900 + 1,42,985.7 = 11,42,885.70
Corolla Altis 1.8G : Rs. 1,047,265 + 1,84,318.64 = 12,31,583.64

That's a difference of about 88K. I think the OTR price difference will be about 90K including other charges. If I had the money, I would still buy the base Altis which is a better equipped car.

I must say 9.99L was a brilliant touch by them. save 4% on road tax!

I say at 90K they really need to rethink - I drove both cars and would prefer the engine of Civic and its looks over Corolla any day. Preferences can vary - but this could mean trouble for Altis.
