Can anyone give me a SOURCE that mentions that the 1.8 TPi and RS have a different suspension.

I am asking cause I've heard some people say that they are, and some say they aren't!

Fair point. Some say the stiffness was perceived because the RS was sold with lower profile tyres than the TPi, and that there was no difference in suspension. I did ask the people at Skoda once but it was apparent that they had no clue.

Someone needs to do a part number check on the struts and swaybars. It appears that the ride height is lower but could very well the bodykit giving me that impression.

The Deisel auto is gone with the wind.

As for the ride, the vRs is a bit lower than the Tpi. ( Thats what i feel)

the rs has a better co efficient of drag compared to the rider , coz of the reap spoiler and the front air dam ( bumper), the front ground clearance is lower for the same reason , but the suspension set up and ride height i think are the same

Great analysis. I never thought of it like that.

You're saying the rear spoiler and gaping front end LOWERED the Cd? Highly unlikely.

AFAIK, the RS and 1.8TPi and TDi and all Octavia's have the SAME ground clearance.

This is because the lowest point on the vehicle (at least a family sedan like the Skoda) is usually the differential casing on the gearbox and not the front skirting.

Had the RS come with a full blown body-kit, then that would be a different aspect altogether.

yes its really sad to see such a beauty being discontinued and as someone said its highly likely that skoda sold more vRS then TPi, so its kind of a strange decision from skoda's end.
I just hope that skoda brings the petrol & diesel vRS to India sometime in future and gain a respectable image in performance segment.

I am just wondering whether the CIVIC had a role to play in accelerating the VRS demise..

the CIVIC could put out 137bhp without a turbo and i think the performace times are similar ? could some one confirm

Or could it be a case like Lancer Cedia where they had run out of the Sport variant kits.

Not a possibility.

Civic is 130bhp, and 9.6 secs to 100kmph.
RS is 8.3 sec to 100kmph.

I think it was a general brand problem. Everyone considered the Octy as a snobbish car with good VFM and great diesel FE. Skoda probably had a tough time selling the normal petrol car, let alone a performance oriented high priced variant.
