CLS-Class vs S-Class

Now that we have both the S as well as CLS avaible throught MBIL. The hard question is which one would u pick? Since both cars fall into a similar price bracket. CLS 350 @ 60 lakhs (appox) while the S-class @ 63 lakhs(approx). The CLS is full imported while the S is partly locally made. And if u had an excess of moolah there is the CLS500 @ 70 Lakhs(approx) where as the S-500 is close to a crore. Both fully imported
Post u r votes....

Hmmm... I would rather go for the "S" atleast if i blow up some compressor or something i would only have to pay 1 or 2 lakhs! Imagine having to pay 3L upwards for a AC compressor bcas its a CLS and it has to be imported!!!

BTW you think i would go for the CLS or the S? Nah... a beemer or a audi more likely for me. Less common on the roads (and more RELIABLE?)

CLS any day. It is the defenition of cool.

A CLS 55 AMG in black with 19 inchers would do nicely.

@ Rudra - I think its a perfect comparision because both these cars are the ultimate in luxury thru the Mercedes stable. Also they fall into similar price brackets. Yes there is a difference in characters, The S-class is an out and out luxury, which has been around for decades and terms as the best car in the world by some. Whereas the CLS is fresh and it combines both luxury and sportiness.

It's a perception you're talking about. Fair enough. I'm also not in a position to substantiate my thought till next week. I'll have a first hand preview then. Hopefully this thread will continue.

The CLS for sure. The S has luxury and is beaten by the CLS in terms of power, sportiness etc. But if i had the money i wouldn't buy either, i would gor a BMW M5 which is as close as it gets for an ideal car, IMO.

Well if we get a car worth 70L, it going to be a Jaguar or an Audi.
Between these two however i would choose S as i would never be comfortable driving a 70L car in India and if we had an option, my dad would be the user.

No-brainer. S-class for me. Whatever pros and cons, the CLS looks too bling, and but for the three-pointed star on the outside, doesnt do justice to the marque. Four door coupe styling, it looks ugly. Yes, the present S-class may have its share of problems, but i'll any day take it over the CLS.

After owning the S and going through its numerous problems,i dunt think i would want an Merc anymore. But is i have to choose between the above mentioned cars,it would most definately be the CLS.Seen two of them today(the one which was spotted and posted on the forum and a black one) and am totally in love with it.
