Logan: Is this a VFM now, after 70,000 INR discount?

Folk:
You must have heard this. Logan is offering 70k discount (60k for all models + 10k exchange bonus). Do you think it will give a hard time to Dzire? To me, it's a great deal. What do ya all say?

I won't say it is VFM still. It can be mentioned as rightly priced. This is the price M&M should have pegged Logan in the first place.
The engine is a gem but the exterior and interior is still a big setback. I have seen the new and improved Logan and I have to agree the dashboard looks better than the old ones but it's still not there. The biggest problem is the placing of the objects in the instrument panel. The AC controls will interfare with the gear stick, the window controls are at the central console, wipers going on the other direction, it's all odd. I have driven European spec vehicles in UK but none of those felt so odd. I never understood M&M's pricing policy with Logan!

If you like the looks, go ahead and take a test drive. You may like it. There should be no question on the reliability of the vehicle.

Firstly, The car really needs some tail lamp cluster treatment at first place. Then they have to put in slightly larger headlight to give it that neat look. Change the control from the centre console to the doors for power windows. Put in some proper handle to close the door.

I am still ok with the interiors of the car. Then it will be a winner

no offence mate, If you driven in UK you might have seen the same wipers in most of the Peugeot and Renault vehicles, it's fine if it is in UK but not acceptable in India

I would any day go with Ford (Ikon/Fiesta) than Logan. It is ahead in terms of drive quality, handling etc.

with rumours of a face-lifted model coming up in 2009, and Mahindra's break-up with Renault, it definitely does not make a good buy at this point of time.

What are the issue with the Wipers going the wrong way?

No offence taken. Can't remember of the Citroen I drove, it was so long back!
Actually, it is not a problem, like the other ones I have mentioned, just odd.

i suppose they mean the controls, i.e., the indicators are on the left side and the wiper control on the right, of the steering wheel.

I think no. The indicator control and wiper control on "wrong" side for Skoda, ford, gm cars too.

What he means is the direction of the wiper on the windscreen. Right?

To those who do not have a problem with the Logan's looks, interiors and its wipers, a 1.4 GLE at 3.99 ex showroom is terrific value for money! You get a three box sedan (a big spacious one) at hatchback price.

Its only that the wiper configuration is suitable for a left hand drive vehicles and they have carried it over as it is to the Indian RHD model.

The wiper can only reach ~85% of a drivers side leaving an unclean windshield. You can simulate this by sitting in co-passenger seat of any regular car and activating the wiper.

This is my biggest grudge against the Logan.

This should be introduced to the Taxi Driver COmmunity in MUmbai, they are in serious need of a good replacement for Padmini which i feel only 3 vehicles fit properly.

1. Logan
2. Indigo
3. Indigo C/s

Dzire might fit in too but its a little bit on the expensive side right now and also there is a wiating period which is still not lessened.
