2006 Hyundai Accent launched at NY Auto Show

Hyundai launched the 2006 Accent at the NY Auto show very recently. Except for the fish like front end treatment, I think it looks pretty neat - a clean and modern uncluttered design.

Its H-U-G-E on interior space and is confirmed with a 1.6 L 110bhp CVVT (Variable Valve timing engine).

More than anything, Hyundai India has reason to celebrate. It badly needed a replacement to the currently ageing and out-dated Accent.

P.S. This is relevant to the "Indian Car Scene".

Well Hyundai India took the good decision by not launching the 2004 Accent in India which was a very toothy Korean design.....

The 2006 is an evoluation of that design, but I'm hoping HMIL will change the looks when they bring it to India as they have always done.

The 2004 Accent was nothing else but our current Accent with a new front end treatment.

The 2006 is an entirely new car.

Basic design of NHC looks like Tata Indigo, Toyota Echo, and many other hatchback-turned-sedans. No surprises there - the Jazz is so much better looking that then ridiculous NHC.

ridiculous design .. we have too many similar looking cars on the road ...
looks a lot like the Toyota - Echo ...i prefer the older accent to this ..
the front grill looks pathetic ...hyundai is hopeless when it comes to design ...
Only improvement they made on looks is with the 2004 Tiburon GT ..

Looks like the Echo??????? Not by a long shot. Corolla, yes. Echo, no.

If you've seen the 2004 Accent that was not released in India (thankfully!) you'll agree that this is an extension of that vehicle. Stretched version with stretched headlamps and a ridiculous grille.

steeroid : i beg to differ on the echo bit ..
the 2004 accent was based on the older accent platform ..second to GTO .. the '06 is on a completely new platform ...

you bet!
they think mixing designs of 2-3 different cars will give them a new cocktail car.
& fortunately for hyundai, they seem to work ALOT in the indian market.
even the new sonata in that case. or shall i say the hyundai accord.

Its looking much better than the NHC. And come on, please we dont need to start it again. Its looking good, does not have to be blamed since its a Hyundai.

People need to change the way they think about Hyundai and atleast think fair when they do something good.
