I had the chance to see the i20 in person and i'm kind of converted. 'Kind of', because the rear seating is a bit too low. The fit and finish of the car is excellent and equipment levels are generous. A test drive will reveal more, i'm sure.Pics taken in Chennai.

Hyundai i20 site Welcome to Hyundai Motors India Limited says rear is drum. In the pic. though it looks like disk.

Holy car .

Nice pictures. I heard the floor of this car is pretty flat and seating 3 in the back shouldn't be an issue. First time I hear about a low rear seat in this car.

While in New York, when you go to visit the Chennai Hyundai dealer you are expected to remove your shoes before entering the vehicle.

I call it a shame. If I am paying up close to 6 lakhs for the car and I have to remove shoes to sit inside it? No ways! I would rather avoid that dealership and go to some other dealer or wait till the newness of the car fades away!

Nick - No Americans working in the dealership?? What happened to Obama's promises of getting jobs in America!!

OT: What if the car bombs? They would dance on the bonnet with shoes or without them?

Who said there is a economic slowdown? Look at the number of people in that dealership!

Try visiting Maruti dealerships now. With all year end offers and such. Indus Chennai says they booked 100 WagonRs on Sat'day!

I just saw the car in physical & Swift looks small in front of the same.
The built quality is also class apart and more so when compared to Swift.
The only point i was not able to experience was the drive as the test drive vehicle is not available in Delhi & the same will start only post 6th Jan.

Also the dealer told me that the deliveries will start from Jan 3rd week & not before that

Getz Price Cut due to i20 Launch ?

Hey guys

I just observed from the Hyundai India website that the prices of Getz 1.3 are lower than before. Is this due to the launch of the i20 ?

Here are the Chennai prices, ex-showroom:

GETZ GLS 1.3 449430
GETZ GLX 1.3 482240

i20 Magna 479900
i20 Asta 559900
i20 Asta (O) 581901

The only difference in features between the i20 Asta and Asta (O) seems to be the side and curtain airbags, a difference of 22k almost. Best value in the i20 range seems then to be the Asta. Killer deal at 5.6L ex-showroom.

Due to the price cut, the Getz 1.3 GLX with ABS suddenly looks like very good value for money too, unless people are ok to pay 80k extra to upgrade to the i20 Asta. And, this is without considering the discounts one can get on the Getz now.

Wow. Nice positioning by Hyundai now.

What do you all think - would the Getz 1.3 be discontinued soon ?

Warm regards,
Venkat

I think Hyundai will continue Getz 1.1 & 1.3 like they did with the Accent. May be with the base models only. And IMHO i20 is a class above swift, uva or Getz.
