Been to Advait Hyundai at outer ring road today. They have a silver i20 on display form today. Test drives will start in another 2 weeks and delivery in 3 weeks. The on road price for Asta is about 6.62 lacs. Option pack (side curtain airbags) will add another 18k.

Looks quite big from outside and has got a premium feel. The overall build, fit and finish is very good with close and uniform panel gaps, decent plastics and metals. Interior colour looks better in real than in pictures. Engine sounded pretty refined. Boot space (295 lt) looks quite good for a hatch. Rear leg space is just enough. Key fob looks quite stylish with boot release button and a foldable key tip. Tyres doesnt look skinny like in i10. Steering is adjustable for reach and rake. Music system sounded decent with FM radio.

I read this review and I read the first impressions review in the ACI forum - and I disagree with both in terms of space. The front seats are good in those terms, but not the rear - you always feel slightly dejected in terms of that crucial extra 2-3 inches of leg space.

Another gripe - the seat padding is not that great and this car will definitely need a good set of padded seat covers.

An finally, I tinkered a lot with the sound system today - the bass and mids are good, treble is ok. Soundstaging is alright - this car will need JBL GTO's and an amp to really rock in terms of audio!

So my wishlist has now become:
1. The i20 Asta in sparkle blue or white
2. A good set of speakers + amp
3. Padded seat covers, preferably in PU.

HYUNDAI_i20_Test_Report

So now we know that Hyundai i20 does 0-100 in ~15.4 seconds. I guess that's not bad considering that they managed this on a motor which was still not run-in.

But Hyundai website says magna, asta and asta (O).
Also the pricing given in the above image is very mis-leading.
How can they make such mistakes? Can these sites be trusted?

I wish if they could come out with an AT version for i20, at least in a limited edition form. I dont think it will be difficult for Hyundai to do it considering that they are anyway manufacturing it here in India for export markets, including right hand drive models for UK. In UK the 1.4 litre petrol version has an AT option.

One another thing I miss is the distance to empty and fuel consumption display. I think they could have included this considering that its becoming sort of standard now in most new cars.

ahhh , is it really this slow ? I doubt it and would wait for ACI results, as the above link says that 0-60kmph in 6.31sec on this pic
http://images.zigwheels.com/alfresco...ges/img20p.jpg
although , a santro does that in 5.55 secs and even IRDE i10 does in 5.95 secs.

Have you seen the prices at the bottom!
Zigwheels should close down until they learn to be a bit more authentic.

In the UK spec model the 0-100 timing is mentioned as 12.9 seconds on the Hyundai website. But then its a slightly bigger 1248 cc engine.

lolz... yeah u are right !!! they are surely confused ! Thanks for highlighting that.

See the pic, I think this is where they got their prices from and I think so they got i20's 0-100 specs from Maruti .

Ah, I was gonna post about this. They are using the Kappa, then why not teh AT option too? Sometime later next year I maybe in the market for an automatic and hence was thinking about this.

I think these figures are the ones of the i10 Kappa.. and they think since the engine is same, FE is also same. All other parameters be damned!

The car is good overall. But I'm a bit a disappointed, what Hyundai have done is a give more options like ABD EBD and have compromised on the engine, i think they should have given a 1.4 engine.

The sales guy told that hyundai would take another year to launch the diesel version.
