I'd go with Steer on this one. There's no way you can mistake the diesel in any of the multijets

The Verna feels quietest inside the cabin. Even at 4000rpm, it sounds like a petrol, no more noise or vibration than that. Dont know about the Getz, have not ripped it like the verna/swift/fiesta

I second that. a skoda dealership is in my office building and sounds like a TATA 407 truck stop. Lol (Ps: No offence to fabia owners. Its a great car to drive! and is a very well finished car.)

You are quite right as far as the noise outside is concerned. However from inside the cabin with the AC on it is very quiet.

Are you kidding me? Those tinboxes rattle like crazy. The engine noise takes a backseat in this case!

Verna is the best one. May not be No. 1 but still be in for top 5.

I feel that the Verna cabin is the best insulated among Diesels.

Ford Fiesta is quite good as well, specially considering how noisy the new Ford Ikon is with the same engine.

This is how i have percieved the in cabin noise level

1. Hyundai Verna CRDI
2. Ford Fiesta TDCi
3. Optra Magnum

I dont even want to put the Swift Dezire the list here the rattles more than make up for it

Fiesta has the most refined engine but the cabin is noisy compared to verna.

Not sure about the best, but the worst is Ikon D. I didn't want to push beyond 100kmph in the TD without ear plugs.

Incidentally, the noisiest car I drove was the Premier 137D...I thought my ears would fall off.

Scorpio mHawk. Even standing outside she purrs like a petrol. This was the most amazing thing about the vehicle when we took a TD. Inside you can barely hear her.
I have never driven the Ford Tdci, so can't comment on that, but out of the Verna/Optra/Swift MJD/Scorpio, the scorpio was indeed the quietest!
Apart from that the optra magnum was decent, and so was the verna. But a diesel will clatter when its cold, whether its a 40 lakh car or a 4 lakh car. No getting away from it.
