At last the official date!

All the talk about traffic and others has been discussed to death. So for the moment, lets just celebrate the Car and the guts of one Man who made it possible, in spite of all the hiccups and road block that he suffered

My dad is thrilled! As i am typing, he has picked the phone to call Mr. XXX

And my dad is getting the car because of his commitment, loyalty & respect to the tatas not because he needs it. He may drive if for 2 days at the most before it becomes a car used for some errands.

All this talk about the Nano being the death knell for indian roads is a bit harsh i think.I mean its not Mr Tata fault if our infrastructure is in a mess, is it?.There are about 200 million privately owned cars in the US compared to a mere 15 million in India.I myself cant wait see the Nano on roads.I am sure it is going to be a huge success and cook a snook at the recession. It is an engineering marvel and i am proud of the fact that it has been indigenously designed and is no tin can on wheels either.

All i can say is Jai ho!!

Surely it will be nightmare in coming days for roadsters. God bless India and to people on the roads.

Anyways congrats to Tata for this bright Idea.

Isn't it a little unfair to blame TATA if there is too much of traffic on India's roads? If they are making affordable vehicles, i would rather applaud them. It's the government's job to provide good enough roads to accommodate all the vehicles, or provide good enough public transport to make people use private vehicles only when needed.

Congrats TATA! Great Job

My view on a solution for the traffic woes in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai :

Give Nano to public for 1 year and later give out to all Rickshawalas. Both almost costing the same.

Fed up of the menace and density of those on the roads!

I just cant image the amount of Nanos and rickshaws in Navi Mumbai/Mumbai traffics!!

Next project by MMRDA: SkyRoads )

Can anybody guess / confirm the variants that would be made available.
During the Auto Expo Launch, I had heard the base variant that would cost 1 lakh ex-showroom would be a bare bones model with black bumpers and no A/C.

I hope you arent serious about what you said. These people who could afford the car with no pain would never buy the car as they want bigger better things. if these people are seen driving/even standing around a "peoples car" more people will be motivated to getting one becasue that is the best what they can afford for themselves

Marketing. Works in its own cruel ways.

I am already imagining the long waitlists for bookings like when Maruti 800 was introduced or years before when Vespa scooter came to India to take on Lambretta !!
I think Tata will be sitting on a big pile of money by way of bookings @ Rs. 70,000 indicated informally.
