No doubt about it! City deserved to be the COTY 2009.

Although the first rank is spot on, I would have liked some changes in the other ranks like :
1) Honda City
2) i20 + A-star
3) Skoda Fabia + Indica Vista
4) Corolla
5) Jetta

Why they didn't included SX4 into the contenders ? I found SX4 a very good overall package backed with Maruti Warranty it should be a clear winner over any other car in the segment.

I think the indica vista deserved it this time. Their excuse that it needs to prove itself is a bit useless. Once it has proved itself , it would be too late to get the award. the honda city hasnt exactly proved anything either at this point in time

The SX4 was launched in 2007.

Even if SX4 was launched in 2008, except that SX4 has Climate Control, I don't see any factor where it scores over the City.

"Add to that brilliant ride quality over bad terrain and refinement akin to that of far more expensive machinery and you smell a winner. What ruined the equation for the Fabia though is the price. Sure, there is a basic version, but that is way too underpowered and not as refined."

Very funny. Its underpowered, its costly to maintain.

Jetta: isnt that the one with lot of issues, as was reported by GTO?

It does.
1) Maruti A.S & S.
2) Better ground clearence.
3) Tyres.
4) Better suspension.
5) High speed stability.
6) Boot space.
7) High seating position than G3HC.

But it came out in 2007.

Regarding this year, I thought that either A-star or Indica Vista deserved it. Agreed G3HC is a nice car, but it is devoid of a good interior feel. The outside noise entering cabin is more than G2HC. Here G2HC was very good. Moreover it is overpriced and under equipped.

With the amount of sales that has occured, and also the anticipation that has been created(5 months waiting period and all)-maybe the Dzire Diesel could also have been considered!

8) Plush Leather Upholstery
9) Better pricing

All-in-all a better overall package then any car in the segment !!

Re: tyres, saw three ANHCs ready for delivery at the TVM showroom all shod with Michelin Energy tyres. Bound to be better than the GoodYear junk they used to come with.

It says: "Besides this, the new City can return 14 kpl even in traffic and deliver decent 150 kph plus performance when you demand it."

14kmpl in traffic on ANHC? Is there something radically different with this i-Vtec? Even dealers don't claim that figure for 100 bhp NHC Vtec. What I heard from Honda dealer is that, NHC Vtec returns 11-12 in traffic and 14-16 on highway.
