@d_himan - well in that case you will still feel the same if you are in xylo and verna overtakes you . In India where maximum speed limit is 100km/hr or 90 km/hr how much power or speed do you need. I have seen numerous enthusiasts trying top speeds ending up being challaned on highways and look stupid.
This is not going to end anywhere. for any car you think there is better available and for the best one well our roads finish even before it starts showing its best!!

@fountainheader - i saw on top speed once lady driver first covering a lap in sports car under 1minute and again trying to do the same thing in mini van.. she succeeded in third time.
I am sure someone from the forum must have watched and can refresh the same for us!
so you never know

It's the second variant that has been launched in India.
The 95bHp, 16v, 1368cc twin-cam FIRE engine is supposedly meant to do duty on the Grande Punto. These specs seem sufficient enough to make the Grande Punto a driver's car but are clearly insufficient to make the Linea a driver's car.

Internationally, the Petrol variant Linea is powered by an option of two engines – namely – a 77bHp, 16V, 1368cc engine called Fire and an 120bHp, 16V, 1368cc engine called T-Jet (Source - - Fiat Linea -). FIAT India should have given us the option of the T-Jet engine. Instead (sadly), they have gone ahead and de-tuned the FIRE engine by another 5bHp. It seems quite likely that FIAT India will use a common engine between the Linea and the Grande Punto, perhaps de-tuning it even further for the Grande Punto. In terms of engine size, India has a Linea variant quite unlike the other countries where the Linea is being currently sold.

Here's another brochure

Even if you discount ACI, There's OD. And standing Km is from OD, and there too Linea clearly beats the Scorp. Are you saying all magazines are rigged?

And apart form the date of launch - i see no reason for Linea not to get a COTY. This car just redefines the C+ segment, the way nothing else ever did.

No I wont feel the same. There's something called a power/weight ratio! The Verna will be way faster than a Xylo! And I'm no 'Road Rage' enthusiast!

The official speed limit on the Mumbai-Pune Express Way is 80kmph if I'm right By your logic, almost all Indian cars are overpowered. Sorry dude, doesn't cut ice with me.

Agree! We need better roads. However, a ray of hope - do peruse the 'Best Roads' thread!

Alloy wheels are standard on petrol emotion and optional on the diesel. Is that what the feature comparison says?

Can someone confirm please?

It is really bad for a diesel with VGT to wait till 2500 rpm for the peak torque to come. it may have some impact on the city driving, can some one share the city driving experience

Yup you go that right.

Any Linea petrol test drives yet? Any idea of waiting period for petrol version?

I noticed that too in the brochure (there is an asterisk saying alloys optional in diesel). However, when I looked at the price of the option pack for Emotion for Petrol and Diesel (for Delhi)

Petrol : Rs. 29,004
Diesel : Rs. 53,008
Similar diff in Bangalore as well.
This tells me the alloys are standard in Diesel and optional in Petrol, or ?

Also, there seem to be some errors in the pricing on the linea website - I found Dynamic and Dynamic option pack with the same cost in Diesel while they vary in petrol @ delhi - for Bangalore, both diesel and petrol models have a non-zero cost of the Dynamic option pack ??
