Test drove the Linea E. Key observations are as follows:
1. The cabin had plush interiors.
2. NVH was very good
3. The pickup in 1st and 3nd gear was extremely frustrating. It seemed like the engine was grunting to pull the load (3 passengers and a kid)
4. Once the Turbo kicks-in the car takes off.
5. The quality of ride was smooth and potholes well insulated

After the test ride was given a demo of the E+ model.
1. The interiors were the same as the E except for the noticable alloys.
2. The steering wheel mentioned airbag (which one never hopes to use, however a very important aspect)
3. The Blue & Me has got me hooked to buy a FIAT.

Overall, my decision is to park my decision until April and decide based on
1. First choice would be GP if launched by then (with same engine, features and interiors and minus boot)
2. Else, await feedback on after sales service and spares of Linea and user feedback. If favorable buy Linea then.

Anyways, hope to have a FIAT parked in my driveway by mid year.

@TheHorse
@PhamilyMan

Thanx for the suggestions. Yes I have decided to go for Petrol Emotion +.
As I would be driving it myself 7 keeping for 5-7 years , it made sense to spend a little more & go fot top end.

Thanks buddy. Then I'm going to wait for the pertrol version to hit the blocks and wait for a TD to compare it with ANHC. Who knows how FIRE is going to perform.

As of now I'm confused between Linea FIRE E+ & ANHC 1.5 S MT/AT.

Had a Linea MJD Emotion TD on saturday and sunday with my family in VST motors Anna Nagar.
They have only Emotion in Display and not Emotion Pack :(
It looks very big than other comparative cars especially in C segment.
The Wheel cap is looking good and seems like Alloys only, though a slight difference.
Interior is good and neat.as said by many there rear seat is little bit cumbersome in leg space but can be seated three easily.
yes rear headroom is not enough for 6+ height people.
Driver seat position is not so good and takes time to arrive the good position.
Plastics in this lever are fragile.same plastics below the steering wheel.
just i pulled it and got the piece in hand
rest is good and my family members are very much liked the car in both Interior and Exterior.
Remote key is looking nice.
Once started the engine, there was a good vibration and settled after few seconds.
the power was not good.felt like stranded to pull all the passengers on board.
once it reached above 2000 rpm the car was pulling like a dream.
But the car is ok for city as well as higgway ride.
we can't do drag race with people.but do a good and safe navigation with family.
This is the car for people who are looking for a family sedan.
I am thinking of booking a car especially Linea Emotion pack MJD in Medium Gray.

I saw a lot of black smoke coming out of the exhaust every time the car was started.even the car is driven for 300 kms only
asked the sales guy, but he didn't have any clue.
any body had that experience while TD.

Please TD before you make a decision. But on paper..IMHO
1. Linea - if you want creature comfort, better interiors, are not a driving enthusiat and more of a rear bencher, are ok with *** (or lack of it and have another car at home for emergencies), less resale value (planning to use for the next 5-7 yrs), mersemised by the italian beauty.
2. Honda city. If you are a driving enthusiat, legendary honda brand name, good reliable, are ok with the price/budget.

Well Said.

One more thing - If you are considering between S M/T & AT - decide that first. Because there is no option in Linea if you decide for AT.

Any thing a little cheaper that you recommend for a driving enthusiat, good reliable, with the price/budget of 8-8.5 Max

Looks like a serious issue. Is it with only one car or all cars which has done 300Kms?
BTW, Bharat Stage IV will be implemented by 2010. Hopefully Fiat would have considered this.

madan
before you take any decision based on top models of all the 3 cars there area quite a lot of differences in the features and electronics in all the three top end variants. i would suggest to compare the features available before you make any decision

Word of the day - premium fuel/adulteration.

Quite sad if there are problems with a TD car upfront.

PS: FYI Palio MJD itself was Euro IV.

The diesel car is not quite cheap as I imagined. The emotion pack is Rs 9,57,634 on road in Bangalore and thats big money. The one which we drove was emotion and it was lacking most of the features including alloys, steering controls, airbags, USB port etc. It comes to Rs 8,95,558 on road. I am not sure this can be called VFM considering that the engine felt quite weak for its size. It is not very easy to drive in a start-stop city driving mode. Felt like it takes ages to get to a decent speed while accelerating. I will wait for the TD of petrol version before making a decision.

I dont think diesel will make sense for me considering the price difference of 1.3 lacs between top end trims of diesel and petrol! Petrol emotion pack is Rs 8,27,624 on road. Right now its not available for delivery or test drive. Diesel models are readily available now.
It is costly because of high taxation in karnataka . Here in tvpm the top end diesel costs less than 9,03000 inr onroad including insurance and roadtax .
