Facelifted verna revealed. Pics on pg 4

managed to find the link but was posted 1 year ago?

source: 2008 Hyundai Accent 1.4 manual and 1.6 auto

The new 2008 Hyundai Accent is now available in Malaysia, essentially the Hyundai version of the Kia Rio. There are two models to pick from - a 1.4 liter unit with a 5-speed manual or a 1.6 liter with a 4-speed. The 1.4 liter unit is a normal DOHC engine - i think it is the same one in the Kia Rio and Hyundai Getz 1.4. It produces 95 PS at 6,000rpm and 125Nm of torque at 4,700rpm.

The 1.6 liter is a DOHC engine with CVVT variable valve timing and produces 112 PS at 6,000rpm, and 145Nm of torque at 4,500rpm.

Like most small cars in this segment, the rear suspension uses the space-saving torsion beam axle with coil spring setup while the front uses McPherson struts. The head unit supports MP3, aux input and also USB input, which means you can just plug in your thumb drive full of songs and it will play. The interior generally looks like the Kia Rio’s, though the two car’s exteriors look totally different.

The Hyundai Accent manages a 5 star US NHTSA crash test result for frontal crashes for both the driver and passenger. Safety features include a driver antilock brakes and pretensioner seatbelts for the front passengers.

The 2008 Hyundai Accent 1.4 manual goes for RM68,888, while the 2008 Hyundai Accent 1.6 CVVT auto goes for RM73,888.

Whats different apart from the new grill and the bumpers? Even the rear tail lamps look the same to me. And yes, the alloy wheels!

To me this looks even more worse than the present Verna. Atleast the present car has its looks borrowed from Corolla and hence has some road presence that is important in India. This update makes the car look more compact. Not good. Its a step backwards.

Its hardly a facelift, especially so if they want to pit it against the All New Honda City.

Hyundai historically hasn't done any drastic facelifts in Indian markets, so why should it be any different this time...

What about the Santro Zipdrive vs Santro Xing ? Sonata vs Sonata Embera ?

The grille looks a lot better than the current one.. actually the grille somehow looks like an Altis to me.

Hyundai tries to prove that they are always different in styling but unfortunately ends up in bad shape.

Lower front silhouette with the fog lights look kind of nice,, yet not very appealing, Hyundai needs to work on LOOKS.

Who cares what its going to look like? On the highway, its still going to thrash every other stock car in its class and the one above it

Hyundai has lost it if this is what they say facelift - new grill and fog lamp design.

I think in few days Verna will be (or already is) the only featureless car in its segment. Few days back there were Ford advts running for Fiesta Sxi v/s Verna and it was fully loaded against the Verna for same price.!
