Spy Pics ....New Chevvy Plans - Looks like the Ritz...?

Saw these 3 cars on the way to Pune this morning. The guys had stopped at Nisarg for tea. Could not get proper interiors because they were not too happy at me

Competition to Ritz, i20..?... Or is this the Beat? As planned to be pitted against i10, A-Start and the likes?

It surely looks like Maruti Suzuki Ritz from the side proportion and from Interior steering wheel copied from Jaguar XKR.

It's the new Beat from Chevrolet. It will be replacing the current gen Spark elsewhere. In India both will be sold side by side. A huge thread already exists for this with plenty of pictures though these are the best seen so far. It seems from the pics that the middle spec version is also getting rear wiper while the top end gets alloy wheels. Looks smashing in red. Rear door handle is in an akward position. Not sure that this is a wise idea. It might seem as if someone is trying to break open the rear glass while he is actually trying to open the door !

Nope, its a five doors hatchback version as you can see the rear door handle is integrated to the window glass area. It will be first of this type of fitment in India.

the car definitely looks macho, give it some wide tyres. This car is done really well at the rear unlike the ritz.

I definitely liked the looks of the car. Everyone's demanding a little more road presence in their cars these days & the Beat offers just that. The rear door handle in the C-pillar is quite different (not sure whether that's good) & the digital tachometer is definitely a refreshing first for an Indian. GM may have a great seller on their hands if they price it well.

Personally, I'd rather go for the red

Saw about a dozen Beats on the expressway on Sunday. Too bad we were on the opposite side. Cos I was driving a car they couldn't run away from (E350 CDI ) and could have gotten some amazing shots. First impressions : The side & rear profile are cute, but the front is...umm..macho (almost like a male with a french beard). The first time I saw it, thought that someone is driving with a crashed hatchback. Definitely takes getting used to. But yes, as musicmaker commented, it definitely has presence. A peppy 1.2 liter petrol and a good diesel (must have IMO) is what Chevy needs.

I too saw them on the expressway on Sunday afternoon. Going in the opposite direction towards Pune. Its not too often that something catches your eye in the opposite lane, especially when these cars were cruising at well over 100 Km/h. The car definitely has presence. And that bright red colour looks smashing.
Quite contrary to GTO, I would not have been able to catch these guys.
I was driving my friends' 10 year old Maruti 800.

P.S. GTO -
Did you happen to see a broken-down Mahindra Getaway and a white Mahindra Scorpio on the expressway. The Scorpio had red MH 15 number plates with "Gasoline" stickers on the rear screen. Could be a US spec version.
