Great scoops again by Sid.
Looks like GM is going all out to change its image like Fiat did with Punto. I am impressed slightly more with the new scoops. But as mentioned by me earlier, those smaller smaller rear-window is still a turn off for me. Probably the price would make me get impressed this time.

Anyway great job Sid, keep the good work going.

Chevy is on a roll, wot? The Cruze now and the Beat after only 3 months. Will be a great start to '10. The Spark's success & the UVA's lack of it would have taught GM a thing or two about pricing / positioning.

Par for the segment. Any updates on potential diesels?

That's small! Even the Ritz has 220 odd liters.

Just thought its worth mention here. Chevy (& Maruti) always offer the most interesting colours. A range thats not even available in higher end cars.

Very nice scoop. The rear window looks quite tiny. I hope it's not claustrophobic on the inside like the Swift.

The boot is really very tiny. Not enough luggage room as was expecting.

Guys, December 2009 launch for the Chevy Beat has been confirmed. Things have never been better for the hatch buyer, so many choices!

Any chance of getting the 1.3 diesel too, or will it be only petrol at launch.

Anyways, good luck to GM, at least they are trying hard.

1) This car is going to hit many players hard.

2) Ritz
Kerb Weight : 1030 kg ( ZXi )
BHP : 83
Torque : 11.53 Kgm
Power to Weight Ratio : 80.5 bhp/ton
Torque to Weight Ratio : 11.16 Kgm/ton

Beat
Kerb Weight : 910 kg
BHP : 78
Torque : 11.4 Kgm
Power to Weight Ratio : 85.7 bhp/ton
Torque to Weight Ratio : 12.5 Kgm/ton

A-star
Kerb Weight : 870 kg
BHP : 66
Torque : 9.1 Kgm
Power to Weight Ratio : 75.8 bhp/ton
Torque to Weight Ratio : 10.4 Kgm/ton.

Swift with G13
Kerb Weight : 1020 Kg
BHP : 87.5
Torque : 11.5 Kgm
Power to Weight Ratio : 85.7 bhp/ton
Torque to Weight Ratio : 11.2 Kgm/ton

Now imagine what will happen if Maruti plonks in 1.2 K series in Swift ? This car, atlesast right now on paper has an advantage in power to weight and torque to weight ratio. Lets see what it turns out to be.

3) As GTO pointed out, boot space is really bad. IMHO, the car to utilize the available space in the most efficient manner is Wagon R.

4) This car looks like Suzuki Cervo. I am feeling a bit bad because Suzuki did not bring in Cervo on time. Now they will be late. IMHO, Cervo would have given a better competition to Beat. Sometimes I feel we could have done with Cervo instead of A-star.

Spoiler and Rims

Forgot to attach these two pics last time. Is that a integrated spoiler?

And steel rims which are disguised as alloys.

Edit: It runs on Apollo Acceler.

Boot is really very small in this car, as some one earlier reported about 175L, too small for me.
