Lets Calculate the Model that Company In India has provided. Please don't Include small Face Lift like Innova. We can consider Every HONDA City as New Model as there is lots of Change from the Previous one.

To start with....

Hyundai:
Verna is supposed to be the facelift of Ascent. And both the cars exist in this market in different segments.

Verna (7-9 Lac) & Ascent (5-7 Lac).

If it were a facelift across the globe, do we need to pay an premium when the world is not? On top of it Verna is featureless (sorry I say it always).. should we pay 2 Lacs as only for its engine? No doubt its the best engine.. but...

Skoda:
Same -- Octavia & Laura. Laura supposed to be an facelift to Octavia. Look at the price gap... Octavia (10-12L) and Laura (14-17L). Laura again has host of features.. but @ 40% expensive.
In Verna there is auto transmission also in the world, I am saying this because it is written in the user's manual. but that is not there at all in India!!!

with VERNA - ur getting not just an engine upgrade - more features, better looks etc etc
But the Verna is nothing but the new accent, why should you continue having the old accent around when you have an upgraded version ?

83000 * 14 = 11,62,000/-
83000 * 13 = 10,79,000/-

I think that's too cheap if we compare the rates in India. Right??

Thank You salil.
if people are ready to buy your older model despite having a new model of the same vehicle, why not sell it and make money? its called business.

thats why verna is not called accent,
A-star is not called Alto,
Cedia is not called Lancer,
Montero is not called Pajero,
etc....

cheers:

Summary of that thread:- (for those who do not want to go through those pages)

1. Same car costs more in India than elsewhere.
2. Same car, same variant - but Indian "edition" has far less features.

And I may add - some features are not even available in India, at any price.

Thats correct. Most of the consumers in India are ignorant of these information. Most of them do not know that Verna is the new accent and I10 is the new santro, etc. So they go ahead and buy these cars, but we people who are aware of these information feel that it is a big rip-off. We can call it as business, though at the corner of our heart, we do feel being cheated.
