Fuel-less Engine Developed in India

Fuel-less Engine Developed in India - an end to pollution?! | CarTradeIndia.com
An Indian couple from West Bengal has developed a fuel-less eco-friendly auto engine. The engine can run a water pump for five years without interruption or a four-wheeler car up to 450,000 km. The engine was developed by Kanishka Sinha and his wife Lipika in Kolkata.

"This engine is switched on by a chemical reaction between zinc and oxygen; hence it is pollution-free. This technology also increases the durability of the engine," Kanishk Sinha, chairman of the Jasper Motor Vehicle company. The engines can be used in 4-wheelers, three wheelers and water pumps.

The couple has registered their company in the US five years ago with Rs. 1 billion raised from NRIs. They have also got their engine patented with BigPatents India, a body supported by Ford Foundation.

The couple is presently seeking land in West Bengal and has approached the authorities for the same to set up the manufacturing unit in WB. Jasper currently has 28-dealer network in Rajasthan, Bihar and New Delhi. It aims to set up 15 more dealers in next few months. the engine is priced at Rs. 35,000.

I saw this too, was trying to find more about it. They don't seem to have a website. Stuff like this is a bit difficult to believe in - I hope its true, but for now, we need to see it in action. They have a 28-dealer network and no website?

I hope its true
Likewise. But memories of the guy down South who claimed to turn water into petrol still linger. According to a Deccan Herald Article

Quote:
Kanishk Sinha, 30, and his wife Lipika, 25,
What's their academic background? They developed a ground breaking engine at the age of 20 / 25? Either they are geniuses, scamsters or both.

Quote:
He said the engine can be used in cars as well as other vehicles like three-wheelers, apart from water pumps.

"A water pump can run for five years without any interruption on this engine and a four-wheeler car can run 450,000 km," said Sinha, a native of Bihar.
More information on the engine please. This claim doesn't account for peanuts.

Quote:
All Jasper engines are manufactured in Washington as the company does not have a manufacturing facility in India. "We source all our engines from the US,"
And not a website? Surely, they could have invested a minute part of their supposed 100 crore funding toward an information source.

Quote:
The company manufactures 15,000 engines a month, but Sinha is not planning to increase production immediately.
To whom? A search doesn't reveal anything!

Quote:
As part of the strategy to promote sales, the company will not tinker with the Rs.35,000 price tag.
15,000 engines a month @ 35,000 each is a whopping 50 crore a month turnover! All with funding of a 100 crore. Not only do they have revolutionary technology, but the revolution extends to their financial management skills as well.

Again, I do hope this is true. But loud announcements with shocking claims and little background information generally leads to a scam.

Sounds too good to be true and usually seen that these things are too good to be true.

But nevertheless, this is what could happen with Zinc and water.

In what way and in what form does zinc react with water?
Elementary zinc does not react with water molecules. The ion does form a protective, water insoluble zinc hydroxide (Zn(OH)2) layer with dissolved hydroxide ions, according to the following reaction mechanism:
Zn2+ + 2OH- -> Zn(OH)2(s)

Zinc reacts with H+ ions, according to the following reaction mechanism:
Zn(s) + 2H+ -> Zn2+(aq) + H2(g)

This reaction releases hydrogen, which reacts with oxygen explosively.
Zinc salts cause a milky turbidity in water in higher concentrations. Additionally, zinc may add an unwanted flavour to water. This occurs at concentrations of about 2 mg Zn2+/ L.

So, its possible that he might have figured out a way to produce hydrogen inexpensively, but its a long shot indeed.

if the above info is true all genset manufactures will have to close shop also we dont need any power supply if we have these engines so no more hydroelectric/nuclear reactors or need for any other power projects
also magine u dont need to refuel your car for 3 to 4 years if u have this engine-hahahahahahahahah-the end for oil companies

Really surprising, but we cannot say its fuel less. Zinc can be called as fuel here.
I think we need more information on this. Its just a very high thought to make such an engine. And what will be physical dimensions, etc also need to be considered.
The market can be like in industries where they need engine to start a turbine or some other similar applications.

Frankly speaking, its more on the unbelievable side.

this is like that Irish company Steorn that claims to have discovered a technology that produces a stream of clean, unlimited energy. They haven't been proven to be fakes yet but you never know....

The patent application makes no sense - other than stating the obvious
["It is based on the law of interconvertible energy i.e. total energy in an isolated system is conserved. In this system energy can neither be created nor destroyed"].

And ["inter conversion of mechanical energy into the desirable form of utilizable energy needed to run the vehicle"], so I'm guessing you push start the vehicle, then use some kind of a generator to charge a battery, & then use that to power a motor - on & on & on...

And 40 to 50 MW ?!? What vehicle are they planning to power ? An aircraft carrier ?

How in God's name did they even manage to get a patent awarded with such an application ?

anekho - it only means an application was filed. It does not seem to have been issued. And the text on the page that you posted is not in Patentish. FYI, Patentish is the language in which patent applications are written, and has common roots with Legalese.

Official patents search site for India is - Govt. of India, NIC's Patent Division

Perhaps it is powered by love and fresh air ... sort of like those perpetual motion machines!
